thanks. that's just a little prototype, NFS. i'll draft up some do-it-yourself blue prints sometime. these are really hard to make though.

i try not to lose my fingers when i cut out those little pieces of wood. i need them to paint them when i'm done cutting/sanding.

cool.are you going to buy wood, plastic and paint? these are not that fun to make, but they are fun to finish.

Heh... time will tell. Gotta keep up with my drawing first. Although I certainly work in the right place for it- we have a flat bed router!

Say, how did you make the canopy? My guess is 3 layers of yellow acrylic solvent welded together?

matt136 In reply to lc3 [2007-02-07 02:00:18 +0000 UTC]

yep. 1/8 inch yellow acrylic held together with super glue. i don't have a fancy router. i wish.

This is a wonderful little toy/sculpture! I do particularly like the crafted yellow visor top and the big hands!

thanks, i dig this piece, but the visor came out kind of sloppy. i need to learn more about plastics.

Frikkin' great!

What type of wood did you use?

I like this piece the best in your gallery that I've seen so far.
The color scheme and shapes all work well together.
The rat looks fantastic.
The stars keep me flashing back to the Soviet Star you'd see on tanks and jets etc...

The size of the piece, have you painted miniatures before?
Like D&D or 40K types?
Because they're more or less the same size
and you seem very comfortable working in the 25mm (or so) size range.
(Just curious).

i would only paint a piece that made myself. the wood is 1/8" ply. the fun is building these things, the painting is ho-hum.

seriously.
simply amazing.
this will rock on a larger scale.
in fact the larger it gets the more it will rock.
if you could manage to build it large enough it would rule the civilized world.
