[link] Christianity is THE most mocked of all other religions. Because it is the truth. They will laugh and scoff at it just as in the days of Noah...in the last days
many will turn away from the truth and follow after their own lusts. Denying
God.We are persecuted for his names sake.

Not everyone believes in God and if you can't handle that then perhaps you should remove yourself from this page.

Amanda-Diaz In reply to Ethereal-Queen [2012-04-17 23:07:40 +0000 UTC]

Well, thats fine and dandy, but to sit and mock others beliefs thats ok though? We cant say anything about anyone about anything- but its a-ok for people like you and this artist to mock others beliefs? You people are the ones who call christians hypocrites and ignorant, when in fact it is YOU that is intolerant and ignorant.
and im not on this page, it was on a DD thats how I saw it...aside from all that, why are you answering for the person who shot the photo?
Are you their staff member?

Ethereal-Queen In reply to Amanda-Diaz [2012-04-18 21:33:20 +0000 UTC]

How is this any more mocking than a Christian holding a rally against Atheists, gays, or other religions? Art is free expression, it doesn't have to appease you. I personally don't like pictures of dead animals, but that doesn't mean I have the right to judge those people for their art. I could very well draw God being raped and that would be my right. And actually yes, a good majority of Christians are hypocrites and ignorant, just like a good majority of Atheists are hypocrites and ignorant. Also, I am proud to be an Atheist and I never mock other people for their beliefs. If a person wants to believe in a God, that is completely fine with me and I will not judge them for it. You seem to be the judging one here. And finally, you had to go on the page to comment, so not only did you go out of your way to comment on something you find distasteful, you did so on an art community where such artwork is bound to show up.

As if the artist didn't know it would upset some people! And I say, 'Great!' The piece is controversial and it achieves its apparent aim -- to overturn a few tables and make a statement -- quite nicely.

I bet during easter pedophiles, in great regret for their sins, refrain from touching children, terrorists peacefully put their arms down, psychopaths in great humility lay down their guns/knives/pieces of furniture/garden tools and it is only THIS deviation that ruins those glorious days of Easter.

Really, people. Quit getting offended and care about REAL problems, not artistic concept.

Forgive me, artist, I had to do this. The piece is very beautiful and well-composed, the only thing that bugs me slightly is the background. But, oh well!

I don't think that its really going to settle nicely the way this picture relates to the last supper... at least that's what I thought when I was first looking at it. Then I decided to stop and appreciate the composition and try to understand the message in the picture. I was kind of surprised at the conclusion I came to and I wonder if the artiest was intending this... I see it kind of as a symbol of our culture and its obsession. Putting our focus on the sensual and devouring ourselves and our spirits with dark "rituals" (I use that word loosely), and there in the middle bleeding is a figure looking and standing as the figure Jesus. He has wounds, one on his side that looks like a wound caused from the woman to his left, who is eating flesh, and a cut on his wrist that looks like a typical self inflicted wound. In my opinion you could look at this symbolically. According to Christian beliefs, Christ inflicted a lot of pain onto himself to save us and even sacrificed his own body to do so. We are not all beautiful creatures in how we act- attacking each other and living in hate but Jesus and God love all man kind and thus we have the paradox... though I'm probably way off base...

Note: I am not a religious person but was reading the picture based off of its historical counter part, I haven't decided if I want to believe in a god or not... so please don't assume that I'm trying to say "yay" or "ney" to the Christian faith

This is a fantastic take on the original, totally worthy of a DD. The pink hair is a little out of place, but I can't help but think that was done on purpse somehow condistering the set up of the rest of the composition.

Either way, you're welcome. I think it's appalling that some people get so worked up about something that's merely artistic expression. I love it for it's visual impact. d(o3o)b

First off, wasn't the artist's fault for it being picked on Easter time considering it was done in March, it is Deviantart's fault. And they are who offended me the most by this whole thing.

Secondly, I only have one word for this piece because it is only worth one word, disgusting.

You didn't have to look at it. Get over it. Not everyone is going to cater to Christian's and what they like. Art is free expression not 'free expression as long as I can appreciate every aspect, including my religion'.

First off, wasn't your fault for having your opinions considering you are christian. And you are who is offending the artist most by this whole thing.

Secondly, I only have two words for this person commenting, even though they are only worth one word: small-minded.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EnvisageIt In reply to tislife [2012-04-08 19:47:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't mind the artist. I think the person does amazing editing and photography. I don't mind artists expressing themselves. Okay, so what if I feel offended. People do the slightest of things and people go all up in arms about how they were offended by it. But when people (and I am not just talk about the artist or Deviant) take my Lord and put him with something sadistic and sexual and then put it up on one of the most meaningful holidays Christians have, I don't take it lightly because you basically just spit in my bestfriend’s face. So how would you feel if someone just completely insulted your good friend right in your face? Would you not stand up for him? Same exact feelings. And if that makes me "small-minded" then fine, I am small minded.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tislife In reply to EnvisageIt [2012-04-09 02:30:58 +0000 UTC]

Well you see, my 'best friend' has mind enough to know when something is meant as offensive and when it is meant as art and knows how to think critically of a subject or idea. I assume you are referring to jesus as your 'best friend.' Let me put it to you this way; if jesus/god had an issue with the expression of art a person chooses on this plane of existence, or if it had a problem with how a person discusses a topic or idea on this plane of existence, then it is a pretty bad deity being focused on tedious and unimportant issues of the peons on this plane of existence.

EnvisageIt In reply to tislife [2012-04-09 03:18:58 +0000 UTC]

An insult is an insult whether you want to label it as β€œart” or not. And to reply to your other half, I will tell you something that I myself have learned from over the years and I am far from the only who needs to know- Every single day has choices, and every single choice has consequences.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tislife In reply to EnvisageIt [2012-04-09 03:27:58 +0000 UTC]

Choices bear consequences, this is true in the most basic of ways: action -> reaction. This persons action (creating a piece artwork), sparked a reaction (being chosen as the DailyDeviation on a specific day). You action (seeing this image and feeling offense) sparked a reaction (projecting your internal conflict outward onto this person's artwork). So this brings me back to my original point; your offense is an internal issue, not this persons fault but rather an insecurity within yourself. If you were strong enough in your faith then you would not see such drivel as offensive but rather as humorous. Jesus/god wouldn't want you to find offense in the actions on this plane of existence but would rather want you to smirk and go about your business. This is something I have observed in the world. Not to say I am a christian, farthest thing from it. But my lack of belief in your religion does not make my point any less valid for I am fairly secure in the assumption that I have studied religious texts and philosophies far more than you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EnvisageIt In reply to tislife [2012-04-09 03:59:37 +0000 UTC]

My good sir, you probably do know more about religious texts and philosophies than I, but don’t try to tell me that you know my Jesus because your words say otherwise. And I am fairly secure in my assumption that you refuse to see anything from my eyes simply because you just don't want to. I worry for you, I really do, and I will be praying for you. Not because you insulted me or that you disagree with me, but because you are like everyone else-including myself. You need help.

I wish you a good day.
