Beyond the crystal sea to the north of the continent Rossana lies a vast unknown ocean many have tried to sail its endless waters and few have ever returned however on the largest expedition out into the region one group of ships brought back wild tales of a land of strange and twisted reality bent by the will of massive horrific demons from another plane. Time and space rent asunder as towers of horror and light poured forth from these other planes of existence. they reported 9 different ringed portals into other dimension's poring into that land and thus it was called the realm of the nine rings. According to their account they stayed and helped those who lived their fight these invaders as long as they could before they were forced to retreat back across the sea the long journey all that now separates this land from the same fate. The empire never sent another expedition and officially considers the entire tale utter nonsense they have also forbid any ships from making similar journeys on pain of death.
