I'm fascinated by the way people present themselves throughout the different phases of a conversation.Body language tells you a lot about a person.

I love photographing people as they talk, how they move, how their bodies match, or oppose what they're saying. Wonderful contrast and composition, you captured her body language so well.
Also, I hear great things about Tri-X film, how is it different than Ilford (which I'm currently using)?

Thank you! She wasn't easy to shoot. She was very self conscious, but I loved the way she held herself and I wanted to capture it. I distracted her by constantly asking questions, things that would provoke a reaction and keep her talking.
I've found that Tri-X has better tonal range, even when pushed. Push most Ilford films (esp. HP5, delta 400 & 100) to anything beyond 1 stop and I usually get crazy hardcore contrast and lower detail. Makes for difficult printing. I think that Tri-X pushed actually looks even nicer than normal. I regularly shoot in a range of different natural light situations, so I need a film that doesn't crap out if it's pushed above one stop.

The more I look at these shots, the more I like them all as individual photographs. However, they work well together to show the idea of a conversation, especially the top two. The bottom right picture confuses me a bit - it's as if the conversation as worn her out or something like that. But I really like the b&w + contrast in each of these shots. Nice one.

I think you might be reading a little too deeply into that last photo. It's really just another stage in a normal conversation. You know, how things tend to get relaxed when you're comfortable with someone.

Ah, that's true. That fits better because I can see how she starts out in a hunched over pose that looks a bit like she's uncomfortable. And then it ends in a very relaxed pose. Now I see it. Makes the pictures better than I originally thought.
