Description
In continuing with the theme of the Wild West and its connection to Ghost Rider, here we see the first incarnation of the Spirit of Vengeance in this new continuity of mine: the Phantom Ranger. Obviously it’s meant to be a nod to Carter Slade - aka. the Phantom Rider or the original Ghost Rider from the comics before Johnny Blaze.

Unlike his comic counterpart, the Phantom Ranger was more of a macabre urban legend spoken in hushed tones; essentially the Headless Horseman of the Old West who would hunt those who had somehow earned his ire - be they honest working men or common criminals.

Theories of his origins were aplenty; some believed he was a demon sent by Satan to reap souls, some that he was the same angel which laid siege to Sodom and Gomorrah, and others that he was a Civil War deserter who’d been cursed by a Navajo shaman for his cruelty.
