I love what this says, by the way (I know it sounds like I'm gloating or something, and I suppose I am, in a way) but yeah, how it's for equal rights and not for women>men superiority, if that makes any sense atall.
No?

Once someone uses the word "feminazi" they lose all credibility. That term was coined by Rush Limbaugh.

Even though I'm a woman, I agree. It just makes me sad what the word Feminist has become. I feel really bad a lot of time when I think of how so-called feminists try to almost oppress men, and I think that's just sad. What happened to the whole "God created us all equal"? But you know, people have this amazing talent of taking something that's originally created for a good cause and turn it into something wrotten, something to benefit a certain group. It's because of those kinds of people that some terms are now loaded with negativity, like Communism, and Christianity for instance. I'm not a communist, but I know that in theory, communism is quite lovely. That it doesn't work out so well in practice is a whole different matter.
But feminism isn't like communism, and it can work when done right. I know a lot of men who are feminists and think it's only natural that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities as men. But on the other hand, when feminist extremists "do their job", they give all women a bad name and dig our graves technically.

Thank you for making this stamp!

Anyway, I don't mind as long as you aren't trying to make men second class citizens. If women are to force men into the same place they were in themselves a long time ago, they would be no better than the "oppressors" of a male oriented society in the first place. Besides there's a lot you can choose to pick on men for.

I don't really know what women's issues are right now, but what is there left to fight for? Is it pornography? Penises are banned more frequently on dA by the way.

To actually answer your question the fact is it is still a lot harder for women to break in to a lot of industries (tech and such) Women still suffer from a lot of negative stereotype that have no base (and ones that do have base but should still not be amused applicable to all women.) There are still countless men who view women as property and just give them the proverbial pat on the head and then turn to talk to the other guy about the 'ussy' they have at home.

On the other have I feel VERY strongly that sexism goes both way and the real tragedy is that most of us are so far behind women in our fight that we are no more aware of the need for change than women in the 1700's where. Men are constantly held to emotional standards that have damning effects (ie: suck it up be a man, a real man would do this or that, and so on) in a group of children if a boy remarked that he loved music and dance and wanted to be a cavalier (male ballet dancer) and a girl said she wanted to drive a big truck the negative reaction would be much much strong towards the boy than the girl in most circumstances.

Ether way every things quite fucked up.

quenjamin In reply to XenosAstartes [2008-09-20 09:18:29 +0000 UTC]

The use of the word 'feminazi' is pretty offensive because well, we're not Nazis. I'm a radical feminist, some might even say a militant, but I am certainly not a Nazi. I haven't any intention of invading another country, of killing all Jews or homosexuals, or starting a world war. To liken a feminist - even a radical one - to a Nazi, is hyperbolic, overdramatic and an insult to both the feminist and to every person who died at the hands of the real Nazis because it trivialises what the Nazis actually were.

And Godwin's Law - "there is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that once such a comparison [the comparison to the Nazis] is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically "lost" whatever debate was in progress. This principle is itself frequently referred to as Godwin's Law."

I think if at all the closest you could come to a feminist nazi is if you had the intention of literally killing all men. Ever heard of SCUM? (Society for the Culling of Men or something, a made-up society invented by a criminally insane woman in the 1960s which I once read about)

I know this may sound silly but this is kinda scary at the moment since I don't know what you're like. *hopes for the best, but prepares for the worst*

quenjamin In reply to XenosAstartes [2008-09-20 21:17:33 +0000 UTC]

The SCUM Manifesto, by Valerie Solanas, the woman who famously shot Andy Warhol and was not in fact ever declared criminally insane. Of course, she was clearly mad as a hatter. SCUM was an acronym for Society For Cutting Up Men. The book was not meant to be taken literally. The method she outlines for destroying the patriarchy would have worked, and it would have worked well. It would have been cruel and inhumane but it was still an interesting theory. The most militant members of any group are necessary because they're pushing the boundaries of group thinking.

I'm not horrible, I promise. I'm a mummy, it's impossible for us to be horrible.

XenosAstartes In reply to quenjamin [2008-09-21 07:24:15 +0000 UTC]

If it's not meant to be taken literally then why write it at all? *sigh* It's times like this I wish there was no gender at all and we got to choose a gender when we were old enough and build our personality from scratch rather than have it invented for us by God or evolution or whatever. I see a few too many people that have a little too much in common which freaks me out.
And If you indeed see me as another guy, then you must at least appreciate that I am more open to fighting, tooth and nail, against the things that cause what women complain about. I can multitask. I've got two other messages to respond to and a journal to read right now. And as you can see I'm better with grammar and stuff on the net than most boys my age have. I do my best.

For what it's worth, I see Valerie's masculine side flowing into her work. It annoys me that girls and women are so much more open to question things like gender. I bump into too many female-to-male Transsexuals but not as many male-to-female ones. Believe me, I do wish men could change. But I don't see how picking on them can help it at all. It's just encouraging them to ignore and feel alienated by women. If women could connect to and respect men's differences maybe there's a way into their hearts and minds through that. Not through complaining about them. There needs to be a branch of feminism for this because protesting and petitioning and ranting about how men can't do this and can't do that can only get so far. Why not attack the problem at its source? Then again I'm not an expert so this might have been tried before.

All I'm saying is I'd rather be the most liberal member of a group and push group thinking that way. These things need balance and I don't see a balance in some feminist groups.

I guess one less feminine side to my personality is that even if I could, I'm not sure I would want to be a mother. I have a phobia of childbirth for reasons that are difficult to explain. I'm also not exactly confident enough for it and have too many other goals in life.

Uhg, I've been caused a feminazi before, drives me freakin' bananas, mostly because people who are ACTUAL feminazis drive me nuts and I don't like to be called one of them.
I give you online hugs for this.

I don't even like to use the word "feminazi". Not only does it not represent the vast majority of feminists (or any feminist I know), it's a word made up by Rush Limbaugh to insult and dismiss all feminists.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MatthewThornton In reply to SaynaTheSpiffy [2008-03-12 07:23:39 +0000 UTC]

I know it does not apply to all, or even most feminists, but there are some who would say that females are vastly superior, while they may be right (cough), it is not what most feminists are fighting for.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaynaTheSpiffy In reply to MatthewThornton [2008-03-13 02:16:38 +0000 UTC]

I don't even consider those women feminists, though. I consider them female-supremecists.

To fight for superiority is to fight against equality. It just pisses me off that feminists are associated with female supremecists. And I really hate when they themselves claim to be feminists!

Anyway, I'm rambling. Nice stamp!

I hate feminazis; they're the main cause of why all us rational feminists are all stereotyped as being man-hating dykes.

Yeah, that's why I was told to make it.

It also annoys me when girls call themselves 'feminists', giving them the 'right' to discriminate against people and just be pricks, generally.

Nevermind.

lol, I get it and I totally agree with you. I don't have anything against equal women's rights, but some people take it too far... same goes for equal ethnic rights... sometimes I feel prejudiced against because I'm not a native american or a black dude...

MatthewThornton In reply to WillFactorMedia [2008-03-03 16:04:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
In the case of the latter example you gave, though, I usually find that it's what we'd consider a 'normal' american/brit (white, basically) who is saying things like "Can't call it a blackboard" and shizzle like that.

At my old school, two people were in a fight, and the black guy got into no trouble whatsoever (even though the other guy got pummeled and it was the black guy's fault) because he simply said that he was being discriminated against.

Bit off topic, yeah, but, well, yeah, equality does not mean that one is more superior.

Ignore me, I'm strange.

No, I get what you're saying, and I agree. Everyone has gotten so equal rights crazy that the discrimination is starting to reverse, so that if you're a white male conservative Christian like me, you're screwed...
