LOL, it's pretty cheap (around 200 Euros) so maybe you can afford it on your own LOL

1 euro = 1,48 $ or something like that...
even though if a lens costs 1500 $ in the US it will be 1500 Euros here...

In 1968 a friend of mine hired a 2mm fisheye to take special pictures, which I then sold one of to a department store. The 2mm lens captures an entire hemisphere with a massive 182 degree field of view in all directions, producing a circular image. A friend of mine took a photo of me saluting while wearing a solar topee and a face mask and snorkel over a pin striped charcoal suit. We called it 'The Setting Of The Empire. It was cropped to rectangular and showed a normal looking face on a blimp like figure which tapered down to a tiny pair of legs and feet!
The eight millimetre lens looks very useful indeed and this photo is a perfect example of how it should be used.

2mm? omg that's awesome!
i would love to see the picture, 2mm must be sooooooooo wide
but the 8mm is great as well (especially for the really low price) but i think i have to get another fisheye that really supports fullframe. i can only use the samyang in apsc mode and it often is a bit difficult to compose because the corners of the fixed lens hood distract the eye when looking through the viewfinder... or i cut of the lens hood and an even wider field of view...
Oh, and thank you very much

And for a single glance through the thumbnail, I thought it was a digital painting, orz. How can I see a photography as a digital painting?
Anyway, cool photo! The perspective is beautiful! XD

How can you take a picture like this? Is it an HDR fisheye?

Matthias-Haker In reply to brenorb [2010-01-30 12:34:39 +0000 UTC]
It's an fisheye shot but not really HDR (in the sense of converting it to 32bit) but DRI.
I used 2 shots which i manually combined in photoshop.
and some further photoshop processing was involved as well

forgive my ignorance, but what is DRI?

Matthias-Haker In reply to brenorb [2010-02-01 08:50:34 +0000 UTC]
i think DRI stand dynamic range increased (or something like that).
basically i used a shot with normal exposure and one that was underexposed for the sky and i masked the sky by hand in photoshop
