I said the the critique was unfair, though only for the 'grit' comment. The majority of the critique, I feel is spot on, but on balance I had to click unfair because I thing that smoothing out the grit would change the character of the photo. I like it because it's real.
I love the white railings that go right out to the edges of the frame. They add depth that is hard to achieve without the contrast you have discovered. It's a whole picture.

I feel like the contrast is a little to much, maybe that. Also, there's a lot of texture on the stairs. And while it is cool, it seems like the top stairs, are not aligned (this could the architecture though)
