Sooo happy this received a DD, it's seriously one of my new favourite photo of all-time. So well-deserved, this place seems somehow like utopia to me, even among the ruins.

I tend to agree it wasn't a factory, but if it was a mansion, it doesn't look like it ever had a roof. Or interior walls. Maybe someone ran out of money and it was never finished?

I'm thinking the roof collapsed from both rot and the ever-increasing weight of the plant life on it.

I thought about that. Wouldn't we see some evidence of a roof in the form of crossbeam remains or in collapsed corners? Wouldn't we see some of the interior walls? It's like all they did was put up the exterior...
