Description
So, I wrote another story to go along with my picture. If you would like to favorite just the story, you can find it on my second account here:Here's the story
_________________________________________________
"Like the sky is crying."
A little blue igloo glows on the outskirts of the rapidly expanding Southern Water Tribe. The snow just outside the door has been packed down by thousands of footsteps and, to the west of the structure, a large impression marks the landing of some enormous flying animal. It's nighttime, but the sun hasn't really gone down in nearly five months due to the Antarctic summer. It dips towards the horizon in a semblance of dusk, the closest to true darkness the village will see for another month or so. Loud wailing erupts from the quaint home, breaking the frozen silence.
"WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! WA-WA-WAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
"Come on Kya," Sokka coos, shaking a shark tooth rattle, "It's time to sleep."
"WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
He starts babbling and making faces, desperate to get his new little daughter to stop screaming.
"She's restless tonight," Suki bends over the cradle next to her husband, wrapping an arm comfortably around his naked back. "You'd think she'd be tired. She hasn't been set down to nap since she was born."
"WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! WA-WA-WAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
"Yeah," he smiles painfully, "It's been a rough couple of days for you two."
Suki reaches down and tickles her chin. "Are you hungry?"
"WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
"I'll go get her bottle." She kisses Sokka's cheek and walks from the room.
"Good idea," he tells her, "Will you let me put your diaper on, Kya?" He starts fussing with her kicking feet, but the tiny legs just won't go in the holes. "It's your bed... if you mess in it-"
"WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! WA-WA-WAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
"Hey Sokka?"
"Yeah?" He calls over his shoulder, still wrestling with Kya's mindless feet.
"There's another spirit here to see you," She answers from the other room.
"This late? It's not Hei Bai again, is it?" He picks up the struggling infant, settling her on his chest, and walks toward the igloo's entrance. "He's already eaten all our salted sea prunes."
"No..."
He pushes through the animal skin door, stopping next to his wife and looking around. "Who is it?"
"Hello Sokka," comes a voice from above. He recognizes it instantly and looks up at the glowing figure in the sky.
"I..."
Her white hair is pulled into an elaborate triangular piece above her head, twin braids fall around the sides of her face, and the rest spills out behind her, reaching all the way past her hips. Piercing blue eyes look down from a warm, smiling face. Her elegant ivory dress, with all of its ornaments and drapery, billows around her like an ethereal ghost. The Spirit of the Moon, but she was someone else once...
"Yue?" Sokka stammers, finding his vocal cords at last. He stares, open mouthed, as she descends to his level, bathing him and Suki in the warmth of her aura. "I... I never thought I'd see you again... I mean, it's wonderful to see you again."
"Of course," she smiles, looking down at Kya nestled, suddenly calm, with her head on his shoulder. "I wouldn't miss such an occasion."
She glances at Suki, then back to him. He catches the hint.
"Um... yeah... Yue, this is my wife, Suki. Suki, this is Princess Yue... the Moon Spirit."
Suki reaches out her hand awkwardly... unsure of how to greet a cosmic being, "Sokka has told me much about you. I'm very honored... to meet you."
Yue captures Suki's hand in both of hers. "No, my friend, the honor is mine. Suki, you are a kind, generous, brave and understanding person. Sokka needs you, and I'm certain you will make a wonderful wife and mother."
"Oh... um... thank you," Suki blushes and looks down, rubbing her hands. They tingle from the contact, like a comforting presence still lingers there.
"Sokka," Yue moves before him. "It's been quite a long time since the day that I left the physical world, and I've missed you. Although I cannot visit for long or often, I want you to know that I will watch over your family for as long as it is within my power."
He smiles.
"May I see her?" Yue asks, gesturing towards the child.
"Yes-"
" Of course-"
The two parents interrupt each other. Yue smiles.
Sokka pulls the silent infant from his shoulder realizing, for the first time, how still she's become. Yue's hands replace his, and she turns her around to look into her wide eyes.
"Hello little one," she coos, floating upwards to share a private moment with the newborn, who giggles and reaches towards her. "You are named after a remarkable woman, Kya. It suits you, as I'm sure you will live up to it."
Sokka reaches a hand up to Suki's shoulder, she snuggles in close to him. He can't help but grin. 'I'm a father' he thinks, 'Wow... I'm really a father.'
"I see glorious things in your future," Yue continues. "You will have your father's intelligence, and the strength and compassion of your mother. Though, do try to avoid adopting Sokka's humor."
"I'll leave you with this," Yue leans forward, kissing her forehead. The spot glows for a few seconds before disappearing. She returns the child to Sokka.
"I'm sorry for leaving so soon," Yue begins her ascent. "But, I really must go."
"Thank you for coming," Suki tells her, "I'm glad to finally meet you."
"Farewell, my friends," she smiles, drifting slowly up into the sky. Her form growing slowly less tangible, her light less brilliant, as she leaves the mortal world one more time. Soon, she's barely a whisper on the wind.
"Wait," Sokka calls out."It... it was really nice to see you again."
She pauses, watching the emotions play out on his face. Almost too long.
"Goodbye, Sokka. I will always be with you."
Then she disappears.
"WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
"Oh... Kya," Suki smiles tiredly, reaching for her child.
"This can't be normal," Sokka whines desperately as they enter their home.
A single, tiny drop of light plummets down from the heavens. Where it lands, outside the door, it melts through the snow and a silver flower springs anew. Like the sky is crying.

Nice story. I liked the part about HeiBei eating all the salted sea prunes. It seemed that they were having a magical moment while Yue was there but it seems life gets back to normal afterwards

It was meant to be a little depressing. Yue really loved Sokka, and he loved her... that's not something that just disappears. Whatever happens, remnants of it will remain.
Thanks, and no problem

Sorry
The story's not really about Suki though... it's about how (I think) Sokka and Yue will deal with the awkward feelings of their relationship, and get past them. Because it just can't work anymore between them, and life goes on. If it makes you feel any better, you can picture it with whomever else you want besides Suki, and the story will work about the same.
Thank you

Awwhh!! That is soo cute and such a sweet story! I like how they called their daughter after Sokka's mother. Though, I hope she doesn't follow quite so closely in her grandmother's footsteps... =/ You know, if something like that was to ever happen again.

Thank you
Yeah... I doubt she'll have to worry about that. She lives in a different world than her grandmother did
