Description My Ultimate Fandom 4 contest entry. Video Games: Team Fortress 2.
-Digital Painting

Team Fortress 2; the virtual equivalent of an energy drink containing absurd amounts of both caffeine and AWESOME. The entire game is a shining example of modern game design due to its extremely polished re playability , visual design, balance and a gameplay formula that rewards the player for doing well without punishing the player for, *ehem*, "n00bing it up."

Why is it inspirational? TF2 illustrates that the best elements of game production are those that encourage creativity in all around design. Too often do we see the same product re-packaged and sold to gamers again and again. Innovation has become a risky investment due to the now traditional corporate structure that game production has adopted, thanks in part to vastly increased budgets and profitability. So when a game comes along that proves great game design and imagination can do well in this kind of market I find it inspiring.

For artists in particular it offers hope that game graphics of the future may not be limited to photo-realistic visual design that lacks any truly creative design. Since gaming is indeed an art form we have to consistently extend the artistic presentation and spirit into all aspects of a game, especially the visuals. St

I agree that TF2 is an unique game. Hell, I like class based shooters, but this was is the best of its kind.

And about that picture, I gotta say, the same situation happened to me while playing as Spy. I encountered Heavy with KGB but I managed to quickstab him,he was on full health.

Certainly, TF2 indeed is a great inspiration. I mean, most games I played yet.. I had a short phase where I was really fascinated by each one of these, but it never lasted any longer than a week or two. They truly seemed all the same, so I simply forgot about most of them.
You are right in all those points, this is a special sort of game, or at least a special sort of style.

In this way: I'd also be highly delighted if your entry would win the contest 8D

You know, I agree with your sentiments on the game industry wholeheartedly. Many first person shooters came and went, but TF2 was the first one in about 6 years that made me sit up and have a LOOK...

...I normally play simple music games.

Variation in style is what brings more people into the genre.

Here's hoping your entry wins!
