Kubo resonated with me on such a deep level for all of the hard to handle issues that were handled so beautifully. As someone who has dealt with the loss of a parent at a young age I truly mourned with him through his journey.
I chose to illustrate the stages of Healing, to show in a way that even if you are in a better place the pain is still very much real. But the pain you feel should never hold you back from pushing forward. Grief is powerful and painful, but it truly shows that in your darkest moments light can still reach you.
