Description
For my entry, I wanted to highlight Kubo overcoming a particular struggle that was, in my opinion, one of the hardest obstacles to overcome. Kubo had to overcome his thirst for justice (and quite possibly vengeance) in order to give the man who was the main driving force in ruining his life a new start.

The Moon king-HIS OWN GRANDFATHER... the one that played a part in the destruction of his village, the theft of Kubo's eye and the death of his parents...TWICE.
Though it wasn't highlighted very much in the movie I believe Kubo had a great internal battle before showing mercy on the newly amnesiac king.

Could you imagine being Kubo in this situation? Standing in the rubble of your beloved home, battered and bruised, one eye missing, both parents gone, and the man responsible is helpless in front of you. As the two fought Kubo even said in a fierce hushed tone that this story will end with him killing the king.

(Side note: Obviously this isn't an actual scene in the movie... So even though the king wasn't wearing his armor when he lost his memory I chose to draw him in it because when Kubo forgave him I believe that image of the king was still fresh in his mind instead of some defenseless man.)

He had nothing else to lose... but instead, he showed him mercy.

I believe the act of showing mercy and forgiveness to those who don't deserve it is one of the most powerful things a hero could do especially when so much has been taken from him. It's a lesson that can be applied to our regular lives as well.
