Description The full title of this would have to be "The Chosen Arbiter vs The Sovereign Slayer" or something to that effect. I saw the rough work of this on MSPAChan and I was like "Oh man this has to become a wallpaper!!" and so it did. Enjoy.

Oh yeah, and if any of you know who did the original lineart of Problem Sleuth there let me know so I can credit them. Obviously Jack Noir was drawn by Andrew Hussie.

Download for massive size, broski.

hahah, I'm so bad at predicting Homestuck. I wouldn't have it any other way, though. :3

Haha, well consider this: There has to be 12 exiles in the Troll's game. There have only been 5 introduced so far.

TheGhosty In reply to Mattox33 [2010-09-17 05:32:53 +0000 UTC]

Hey, good point. I used to think that the felt were their exiles, and everything else was a psyche.

I guess anything is possible. (!!!!)

Mattox33 In reply to TheGhosty [2010-09-17 07:02:23 +0000 UTC]

The felt wouldn't add up, so it has to be something else. Hussie's already established that being a game within a game and being a real thing within the game are not mutually exclusive, so yeah, anything is possible.

I'm a bit confused, to be honest.

TheGhosty In reply to Mattox33 [2010-09-20 03:08:43 +0000 UTC]

Well, after we discover that Earth is a product of the troll kids' imaginations, we find out that Karkat is discovering the existence of John, and making all the links necessary for him to seriously contemplate or at least be very moved by the idea of being kismesises with him.

Mattox33 In reply to TheGhosty [2010-09-20 04:08:01 +0000 UTC]

It's possible, but it's hard to say exactly what the Spade symbolizes at this point. All we can do for now is speculate.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheGhosty In reply to Mattox33 [2010-09-20 06:20:47 +0000 UTC]

Okay, well, it's actually pretty easy. What I'm about to say I figured out on my own, and Hussie confirmed it on formspring.

John wears that shirt because he likes playing cards! Card suits are linked with the magic tricks performed by some of his heroes, so that was his favorite/signature shirt until he bought the matching slimer shirt for him and Jade.

Karkat thinks about it more deeply than it was ever intended by John. He sees it as a sign, almost as a destiny, especially due to his circumstances, and because of the unforeseeable (from human perspective) way troll romance works.

Karkat basically sees an object that sparks an idea that he gets heavily drawn to.

Mattox33 In reply to TheGhosty [2010-09-20 06:51:32 +0000 UTC]

Mmhmm, but the total ramifications of that have yet to be seen. I think it's a little bit early to be forming hard theories.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheGhosty In reply to Mattox33 [2010-09-20 09:48:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Pretty much. I think that applies to every update that's ever been made, at the time of its arrival.

It's really hard to come up with something that actually becomes true short of the obvious, or actually influencing the story.

As far as the kismesis thing, we've already seen a lot of KK interacting with John, and it never struck me as a particularly romantic or really hateful thing. Maybe I should go read them again to see if there's underlying ideas that we can't have connected until now.

Either way, it must be very frustrating, because John is so full of everything but hate.

In this battle, there's really no question who would win. As much as I love Spades Slick/Jack Noir, Sepulchritude PS would whoop his ass.

Mattox33 In reply to TheShadedFox [2010-08-26 19:54:49 +0000 UTC]

Keep in mind Jack is only x4 prototyped right now. There's still at least one more, if not two left.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheShadedFox In reply to Mattox33 [2010-08-26 20:06:03 +0000 UTC]

I dunno, even with the other prototypes on Jack's side, Problem Sleuth managed to beat DMK's final form, which featured instantly recharging life bars. Whatever Jack gets prototyped with most likely won't impart that effect, so PS has a clear advantage.
^Nerd comment is nerdy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mattox33 In reply to TheShadedFox [2010-08-26 20:30:58 +0000 UTC]

But that kind of damage is relative. We don't actually know how tough DMK's final form really was. Not to mention that Sepulchritude has a very definitive (and short) time-limit while Jack does not need to concern himself with said limitations. Don't forget Sovereign Slayer is a very intelligent chess-master. He would be able to deduce that Problem Sleuth would have limited powers, so if he played his cards right he could simply out-last him.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheShadedFox In reply to Mattox33 [2010-08-30 21:01:11 +0000 UTC]

While that may be entirely true, we also have no test of the damage that Jack can do. All we know is that he's more powerful than the kids. It's not saying much, considering that they're only 13 years old. For all we know, Sleuth Diplomacy could have the power to totally waste him. However, because we don't have a constant between the two tales, we really have no relative measure of the power between PS and Jack.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mattox33 In reply to TheShadedFox [2010-08-30 21:27:03 +0000 UTC]

Consider that Jack was able to take out the two opposing armies as well as destroy a significant portion of Skaia with not a whole lot of effort, and he's not even at full power yet. Sleuth Diplomacy was barely able to take out a few thugs.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheShadedFox In reply to Mattox33 [2010-08-30 21:33:57 +0000 UTC]

Again, we have no measure of the strength of the imps that Jack took out as opposed to the thugs that PS killed. Also, we never really got to see PS's highest Sleuth Diplomacy in action against the thugs because he leveled it up to its highest extent in the fight against DMK. I think that who the winner would be will become more apparent when we watch Noir in the final fight against the kids, assuming that's what's going to happen.

Mattox33 In reply to TheShadedFox [2010-08-30 21:46:46 +0000 UTC]

It's hard to say really. A lot of fans seem to think WV will get the other ring and fight Jack himself.

TheShadedFox In reply to Mattox33 [2010-08-30 21:53:18 +0000 UTC]

I think I would die laughing. I honestly can't imagine WV fighting. Maybe throwing around a couple mustard cans, but not killing anyone.

Mattox33 In reply to TheShadedFox [2010-08-30 23:32:00 +0000 UTC]

Don't forget he was raising an army from both sides to take on the king. He's not as feeble as he may seem.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheShadedFox In reply to Mattox33 [2010-08-31 02:26:58 +0000 UTC]

Mmm, true. It's just WV has been made out to be such a ridiculous little character, especially in his role as the Mayor. I don't think he'd be the one to take Noir down, even if he was secretly powerful.
If any of the exiles had to do it, I'd have my money on PM.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheShadedFox In reply to Mattox33 [2010-08-31 02:36:27 +0000 UTC]

I dunno, everyone else is predicting WV. Andrew Hussie probably picked up on that and is using some crazy reverse psychology bullshit.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what he's going to do.
Chances are, everyone's wrong and it'll be the most predictable thing of all: The kids.
