Huh, Alola "League", worst league ever.
Sure, it is a "good thing" that Ash "finally" won a league... but not in the way he did this time.
I won't go into the details because I don't want to ruin anyone's joy, I just say I wasn't satisfied how Ash won this league.

I might be a cynic but I feel like Ash's victory would have had way more of an impact on me if he wasn't still 10.
When it happened I saw so many people talking about how inspirational it is, that it teaches to not let disappointment and failure keep you down and that if you keep trying you can eventually succeed and achieve your dreams. And that's a good message...but Ash is still 10. This isn't him finally winning after years of hard work and struggle. Logically, it's been less than a year since he started his Pokemon journey. Some theories say that every episode of Pokemon counts as a day, putting him at 12, and some other theories that he's 17. But in-universe he keeps being stated as 10 years old!
I suppose it's maybe a little inspiring that he kept trying even after the hell of a year he must have had with the entire series packed into it, including his losses. But I guess when the character feels like he's being started off on a blank slate every new region, those losses don't really feel like they ever happened and neither does his growth.
I'm not saying I want Ash to be as old as the show but for all intents and purposes he's basically still a kid who just started his Pokemon journey and thus he feels like a kid who just started winning a tournament, not someone who finally won after years of failing.

Yeah. But they need to keep those young viewers.
Worst thing about growing up with a show that has characters that never age, you become out of touch with them.
Same with the simpsons.

I'd argue the point of starting a story, no matter how much you love it and want it to keep going, is that you want to see how it ends.

Only in Japan, its still Alola in the states. The new anime revealed some of Ash's pikachu's backstory.
