“HINATA!!!” Neji cried as he rushed over to the young Hyuuga.
“N-Neji?!” Hinata said, surprised to see him running towards her. “W-what is it?”
“It’s your father.” Neji said, with a concerned look. “He was ambushed near the compound.”
“W-what?!” Hinata gasped, “Is he... Is he ok?”
“He’s in the hospital.” Neji replied, it was all he knew.
“Hinata. You go, we’ll tell Kurenai-sensei of the situation.,” Shino said.
Hinata nodded and the two Hyuuga quickly headed towards the hospital.

Hinata and Neji rushed into the hospital. They quickly found which room the Hyuuga leader had been taken to and rushed to his room. As they burst in, Hinata gasped and covered her face as she saw the mess that was her father. Hiashi was laying on a bed, covered in cuts, gashes and bruises; Blood splatters covered his torn clothes and skin, his leg was burned and bloody.
The doctors who were working on him quickly ordered them out, but Hinata couldn’t hear them. The only thing that was on her mind, the only thing she could focus on, was her father, and it seemed unreal.
Neji pulled her out of the room, and moved the stunned heiress to the waiting area.

They both waited, and were eventually joined by Hanabi, and several other Hyuuga, They all gathered around talking about things, like what would happen if Hiashi died, and who was responsible for the attack.
After a short while, Neji left to join the Hyuuga investigation squad, and hours passed for Hinata who refused to leave the hospital until word of her father had come. All the nurses would say was where he was being taken. He had gone into surgery, twice; his internal injuries making things worse for the treating doctors; as they fixed one problem, another injury would appear. The clan was becoming increasingly worried, and concerned. It had gotten so bad that they had had to call in Tsunade to assist.
The council began talk to Hinata, warning her that if the worst happened, or until Hiashi recovered, as the eldest child, she would have to take on the duties of clan head.
Hinata didn’t want to listen though, she didn’t want to hear that kind of talk while her father lay injured in a hospital.
As the next day broke, Hinata was awoken by Neji. The investigation had concluded with the culprits having been arrested.
“Several ninja had ambushed Hiashi-sama on his daily walk.” Neji explained, “As far as we can tell, they let off an explosive tag that injured his leg. After that, they just tried to capture him, but he managed to fight them off.”
“But he looked like he could barely move.” Hinata said, “He still fought them off while being so injured?”
“Actually, Hiashi had help.” Neji said, “We interrogated the ninja, and they said a ninja just appeared out of nowhere and fought them off. They didn’t even get a good look at them, it was over so fast.”
“A ninja helped my father and no one saw who it was?” Hinata said, confused, “Who was it?”
“There was nothing at the scene that could tell us who.” Neji replied.
Just then, Tsunade walked into the waiting room, a smile on her face. “He’s going to be just fine.” She said as she looked at their nervously expectant faces.

Hinata gave a sigh of relief and shed a tear, she was happy her father was going to be ok.

A week passed and Hiashi was moved to his home, to be cared for there.
He lay in his own bed, still covered in fading bruises. Most of his cuts had faded away, the stitched gashes and his leg were covered by bandages.
He had been restricted to his bed and already he was finding it annoying.
“Father please,” Hinata said, as she sat in a chair beside his bed. “You have to stay in bed and heal.”
“I feel fine.” Hiashi said just before a twinge in his leg reminded him he wasn’t. “Ok... maybe a little more rest... but tomorrow...”
“You’ll still be in bed,” Hinata said, quite sternly.
“Hmph!” Hiashi said, not happy. “When did you become so bossy?” he said, looking at her curiously.
“Since I’ve had to take over your job.” Hinata sighed, she was tired.
“I hear you’re doing a good job. I’m... proud of you, for taking on the responsibility.” He said, breaking his usual stern look with a smile.
Hinata was taken aback, surprised to hear those words. “Y-you’re welcome.” She said getting teary eyed. Hiashi was confused as to why she was crying, and a moment later Hinata hugged her father, who yelped out in pain.
“O-OH!” she said, quickly letting go. “F-Father, I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I’m so sorry.”

More time passed and Hiashi got stronger every day, eventually returning to his duties as the clan head.
He and Hinata had grown closer over the time he was in recovery and he was proud of the job she had done in her time as the stand in clan leader; which made him sure she could handle it when he passed on the responsibility to her.
But questions about his mysterious savior were the talk of the clan, Hiashi had refused to reveal the identity of his saviour, saying only that it was someone from outside the clan.
It was a mystery to everyone why Hiashi continued to keep it such a secret and rumours persisted throughout the ranks of the branch family.
“Why will you not tell us?” asked Neji as he walked with his uncle.
“I can’t bear to think that I owe him my life.” Hiashi answered. “That... that fool!”
“Who?” Neji prodded.
“It doesn’t matter.” Hiashi said, the same answer he always gave.

The attack had also been the subject of intrigue around the rest of the village. The rumour of the mysterious hero had spread and had become somewhat of a romantic fantasy to many. The thought of a shadowy figure stalking the village and saving people had many women sighing with notions of romance.
“I just wonder who it could be.” Sakura said to Ino as they sat in Ichiraku’s.
“I’m the mysterious hero.” Naruto said as he placed his third empty, bowl down on the counter, and slid to the edge of his seat, closer to Sakura.
“Back off Naruto.” Sakura said, glaring at him with evil eyes.
“Fine.” Naruto sighed as he signaled for another bowl.
“I wonder if he’s handsome?” Ino asked as the two Kunoichi imagined. Sakura pictured Sasuke, dressed in black, and adorning a cape and hat, looking suspiciously like a Zorro character. Ino pictured the same thing, but with Sai in Sasuke’s place.
The two girls sighed happily with their dreams, Naruto glanced over and chuckled.
“What do you think?” Teuchi asked Naruto as he placed a fresh bowl of Pork ramen in front of Naruto.
“I dunno.” Naruto said, “Maybe he forgot he did it. Heck... I can’t remember what I did that day.”
“I doubt he’s a moron like you Naruto.” Sakura said. “He must be smart and heroic... like my Sasuke!”
“Err... Isn’t Sasuke in prison because he tried to destroy the village?” Naruto said.
“Shut up!” Sakura said hitting Naruto over the head. “He’s in therapy.” She added.
“I think you need therapy.” Naruto mumbled to himself as he rubbed his sore head.
“WHAT?!” Sakura said as she began to beat him up, and a short time later, Naruto was walking down the streets, nursing some bruising when he heard a whistle. He looked around and saw a hand wave him over from an alley, and so Naruto curiously walked over.

Back at the Hyuuga compound, everyone was looking for Hiashi.
“How could he just wander off like that?” Hinata said, “His leg is still injured, he can’t exactly move that fast.”
“I’m right here.” Hiashi said as he entered the room on crutches. “I just went for a walk.”
“You could have told us, Hiashi-sama.” Neji said.
“I don’t need a babysitter Neji.” Hiashi said, sternly. “I needed some air, and I didn’t go too far away.”
“Father... you should be more careful.” Hanabi said, glaring at her father unhappy with his conduct.
Hiashi moved to a chair and achingly sat down. “Could I have some tea?” he asked politely.
The three Hyuuga just looked at him and sighed. For someone who was often so strict to others, and demanded obedience from those around him, Hiashi certainly liked to ignore other people’s concerns.
Hanabi left to get the tea, and Neji followed to tell everyone Hiashi had returned.
“Father.” Hinata said, as she approached him. “You should... be more careful. We all worry about you, and until you get better, you have to rest.”
“I understand Hinata.” Hiashi said.
“So... where did you go?” Hinata asked.
“Like I said, it was just a walk... nearby.” Hiashi said, coughing.
Hinata wasn’t sure, but it sounded like he was hiding something.

The next day, the chatter had finally begun to die down about the mysterious hero, that is with the exception of a few people.
“Shikamaru... it... it isn’t you is it?” Ino asked.
“No.” Shikamaru said to the troublesome blonde.
“Chouji?” Ino asked.
“Nope.” He grinned.
“Who could it be?” She said. Then, looking up she saw Sakura and Sai walking together. “SAI!” Ino called out as she ran up to him. “Are you the mysterious hero?” Sai just smiled, and Ino got excited. “Well... tell me.”
“No.” Sai said.
“Ino... stop asking every guy you see.” Sakura said, “Even if it was him, do you really think he’d say, especially after keeping a secret all this time?”
“I guess not.” Ino sighed, saddened. She then glanced over and noticed Naruto walking over, he looked confused. “What’s up with him?”
The group turned to see Naruto.
“Hey... what’s up Naruto?” Sakura asked.
“I had the weirdest conversation yesterday.” Naruto said.
“About what?” Sakura said.
“Do I sleep walk?” Naruto asked Sakura.
“Only when you’re hungry.” Sakura said. “Remember the time you stepped in the campfire?”
“Oh yeah!” Naruto said, chuckling.
“Why?” Sakura asked.
“Oh... apparently I’ve been sleep walking.” Naruto said, “I even talked to Teuchi, and he said I showed up at Ichiraku’s and slept on the counter. He had to take me home.”
Everyone giggled at hearing this.
“You really can’t keep away from that place.” Shikamaru joked.
“So...” Sakura sniggered, “Who told you?”
“You don’t wanna know.” Naruto said. “I did something embarrassing.”
“What?” Ino grinned, curious.
“Oh yeah... you sleep in your boxers and t-shirt.” Sakura giggled, and everyone else found it funny too, while Naruto went bright red as he sighed.
“HINATA?!” Kiba shouted as he caught Hinata. They had just turned the corner as Sakura mentioned Naruto’s nightwear and Hinata couldn’t help but imagine it.
After she awoke, the group decided to go for barbecue together. Naruto was looking down, he was so embarrassed about sleep walking through Konoha practically in his underwear.
“A-are you ok, N-Naruto-kun?” Hinata shyly asked.
“Yeah.” Naruto said as he forced a smile. “I’ll be fine. What’s a little... humiliation?” He sighed.
“I... I wouldn’t laugh.” Hinata stuttered, as he cheeks went red. Naruto was sitting right next to her and she could barely move, she was so nervous.
Naruto smiled. “Thanks Hinata.” He said, “I’m glad someone doesn’t find it hilarious.” He said, looking over at his other friends.
Hinata went even redder, she was happy that Naruto thanked her.
“Hey Hinata... want a drink?” Naruto asked, “I’ll treat ya.”
“Err... th-thank you. Umm... I m-mean, y-yes please.” Hinata said, Naruto was now treating her, her heart was beating so fast she thought it was going to explode.
The rest of the lunch passed by quite nicely as they enjoyed food, company and drinks. The whole time Naruto and Hinata chatted to each other, happily talking about things , much to the surprise of everyone as they realized the two of them were getting along so well.
Even Naruto and Hinata were surprised at how easy conversation seemed to flow between them. This was much to the joy of Hinata, who had only dreamed of having that much interaction with Naruto.

As the week moved on, Naruto and Hinata continued to meet up for lunch and talked, sometimes amongst their friends, who began to talk about them making jokes about the two becoming an item. Which Naruto denied, saying they were just becoming closer friends. Hinata was saddened by his response to the playful taunts, but didn’t mind, there was still time for it to develop past that point.
Even though talk of the mysterious hero had died down, Hiashi couldn’t help becoming more and more agitated; It was clear to everyone around him that something was bothering him. He had been considering it over and over and he couldn’t get the thought out of his head. His life had been saved by this person, and his honour was screaming at him to pay back the debt somehow.
When Hinata returned home that evening, Hiashi called her in.
“Yes, father?” Hinata said.
“Hinata.” Hiashi said, taking a deep breath. “I have decided I can no longer face being unable to pay back the debt of my life.”
“Father?! What do you mean?” she asked.
“The young man who saved my life.” Hiashi said, “I am unsure how to repay him. I know I have to somehow. I feel my honour demands it of me.”
“Father... I’m confused.” Hinata said.
“Hinata. Our tradition is to honour our debts.” Hiashi said, “And there is only one way I can sufficiently pay back the debt of my life. I must offer him your hand in marriage.”
“W-WHAT?!” Hinata gasped. “F-Father... y-you can’t be serious?”
“I am Hinata.” Hiashi said, “I understand this has come as a shock, but as my eldest daughter... it... it seems fitting, you are my life also.”
“No... I... I can’t... me and... we’re just getting...” Hinata tried to get the words out, but found it hard to articulate what she wanted to say. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she ran out of the room, upset. Her budding relationship with Naruto had been quashed before it began.

Sakura was walking with Ino, Shikamaru and Chouji through the village.
“I can’t believe Hinata is being forced into an arranged marriage.” Sakura said, “What is her father thinking?”
“Yeah. I hope this guy is as good as we all think.” Ino said.
“He still has to accept the proposal.” Shikamaru said.
“Hey guys.” Naruto said, as he approached. “What’s up? You all look serious.”
“Haven’t you heard about Hinata?” Ino asked.
“Heard what? Is she ok?” Naruto asked, a little concerned.
“Oh man, where have you been all morning?” Sakura said.
“Err... sleeping.” Naruto chuckled. “I was up training until late last night.”
“Hiashi is arranging Hinata to marry the guy that saved his life.” Sakura said.
“EHH?!” Naruto said, surprised. “M-Marry?”
“Yeah.” Ino said, “It’s not right to force her to marry someone she doesn’t know or love.”
Naruto didn’t wait around, he was off like a shot.
“I guess he doesn’t agree either.” Sakura said.Naruto ran through the streets of Konoha, moving as fast as he could to the Hyuuga compound. When he got there he met Neji.
“Neji... I wanna see Hiashi.” Naruto demanded.
“Why?” Neji asked.

“She hasn’t left her room since.” Neji said, “Take a guess at how she took it.”
“Well... I’m gonna have a word with Hiashi.” Naruto said, trying to push past Neji.
“I’m sorry, but you can’t.” Neji said. “Why does it matter to you anyway?”
“It... It just does.” Naruto said.
“Listen... I know you and Hinata have been getting close.” Neji said, “But you can’t just barge in here and...”
“Let him through.” Came Hiashi’s voice.

“GO AWAY!” she shouted, still upset.
“Hinata... you’re not going to believe this... but Naruto is talking to Hiashi-sama. I think he’s here to argue against the arranged marriage.”
“WHAT?!” Hinata said as she flung open her door.
The Hyuuga heiress ran through her home to where her father and Naruto were talking.
“I just don’t think it’s right to pay a debt with your daughter.” Naruto argued.
“But it is the only way I feel my honour can be regained.” Hiashi said.
“But... But it’s... She doesn’t want to.” Naruto said. “Neji said she’s been in her room since you told her everything.”
"You shouldn't force Hinata to fulfill your debts." Naruto cried out.

"Yes father." Hinata said, "Can't you take my own feelings into this?"

"I don't care." Hinata said, getting teary eyed. "I... I can't fall in love just like that."
"Yeah." Naruto said, "And do you expect me to fall in love with her just like that?"

“Well… we… well… umm… Huh?!” Naruto was now completely lost as Hinata hugged him.
He felt her pressed up against him, and his heart began to beat faster. “This is so weird!” he thought to himself, as he felt himself wrap his arms around Hinata. “Why am I… feeling so happy? And when did Hinata start liking me enough to agree to marry me so quickly.”
“Naruto… is it ok?” Hinata suddenly asked. This was all happening very quickly, and she didn’t even know how he actually felt about her.
“Umm… I… I don’t know.” Naruto said. “Are you sure this isn’t too fast?”
“Yeah… but I think it’s just wonderful.” Hinata said, smiling.
Naruto had never seen Hinata smile much. She was usually hiding her face or looking away and it was the first time Naruto had fully seen how beautiful she looked with a smile.
Hinata gasped as Naruto kissed her without warning, but then she closed her eyes and began to enjoy it.
“Ahem.” Hiashi said, interrupting them.
Naruto and Hinata quickly stopped and, with crimson cheeks, stood before Hiashi.
“So… it’s agreed then?” He asked.
Naruto and Hinata looked at each other.
“Yeah.” Naruto said, “But only if Hinata agrees.”
“I do!” Hinata blurted out. “I… I mean. I would like that very much.”
“Good.” Hiashi said, “You two are now betrothed.”
Hinata couldn’t help smile as the excitement built up in her.
A short time later Naruto and Hinata announced the engagement to their friends, who were at the very least dumbstruck.
“So… you saved Hiashi?” Sakura said.
“You’re the mysterious hero?” Ino said.
“Why… why didn’t you say anything?” Sakura asked.
“Yes. Saving my father was a good thing.” Hinata said. “And why didn’t he just say you saved him?”
“Well… “ Naruto said chuckling nervously. “Remember when I said I was sleep walking?”
“Yeah.” Everyone said.
“Well… Can you Imagine me fighting in my underwear?” Naruto said.
Everyone tried not to. Except Hinata, who’s face went bright red.

“You could have told us, Hiashi-sama.” Neji said.
“I don’t need a babysitter Neji.” Hiashi said, sternly. “I needed some air, and I didn’t go too far away.”
“Father... you should be more careful.” Hanabi said, glaring at her father unhappy with his conduct.
Hiashi moved to a chair and achingly sat down. “Could I have some tea?” he asked politely.
The three Hyuuga just looked at him and sighed. For someone who was often so strict to others, and demanded obedience from those around him, Hiashi certainly liked to ignore other people’s concerns.
Hanabi left to get the tea, and Neji followed to tell everyone Hiashi had returned.
“Father.” Hinata said, as she approached him. “You should... be more careful. We all worry about you, and until you get better, you have to rest.”
“I understand Hinata.” Hiashi said.
“So... where did you go?” Hinata asked.
“Like I said, it was just a walk... nearby.” Hiashi said, coughing.
Hinata wasn’t sure, but it sounded like he was hiding something.

The next day, the chatter had finally begun to die down about the mysterious hero, that is with the exception of a few people.
“Shikamaru... it... it isn’t you is it?” Ino asked.
“No.” Shikamaru said to the troublesome blonde.
“Chouji?” Ino asked.
“Nope.” He grinned.
“Who could it be?” She said. Then, looking up she saw Sakura and Sai walking together. “SAI!” Ino called out as she ran up to him. “Are you the mysterious hero?” Sai just smiled, and Ino got excited. “Well... tell me.”
“No.” Sai said.
“Ino... stop asking every guy you see.” Sakura said, “Even if it was him, do you really think he’d say, especially after keeping a secret all this time?”
“I guess not.” Ino sighed, saddened. She then glanced over and noticed Naruto walking over, he looked confused. “What’s up with him?”
The group turned to see Naruto.
“Hey... what’s up Naruto?” Sakura asked.
“I had the weirdest conversation yesterday.” Naruto said.
“About what?” Sakura said.
“Do I sleep walk?” Naruto asked Sakura.
“Only when you’re hungry.” Sakura said. “Remember the time you stepped in the campfire?”
“Oh yeah!” Naruto said, chuckling.
“Why?” Sakura asked.
“Oh... apparently I’ve been sleep walking.” Naruto said, “I even talked to Teuchi, and he said I showed up at Ichiraku’s and slept on the counter. He had to take me home.”
Everyone giggled at hearing this.
“You really can’t keep away from that place.” Shikamaru joked.
“So...” Sakura sniggered, “Who told you?”
“You don’t wanna know.” Naruto said. “I did something embarrassing.”
“What?” Ino grinned, curious.
“Oh yeah... you sleep in your boxers and t-shirt.” Sakura giggled, and everyone else found it funny too, while Naruto went bright red as he sighed.
“HINATA?!” Kiba shouted as he caught Hinata. They had just turned the corner as Sakura mentioned Naruto’s nightwear and Hinata couldn’t help but imagine it.
After she awoke, the group decided to go for barbecue together. Naruto was looking down, he was so embarrassed about sleep walking through Konoha practically in his underwear.
“A-are you ok, N-Naruto-kun?” Hinata shyly asked.
“Yeah.” Naruto said as he forced a smile. “I’ll be fine. What’s a little... humiliation?” He sighed.
“I... I wouldn’t laugh.” Hinata stuttered, as he cheeks went red. Naruto was sitting right next to her and she could barely move, she was so nervous.
Naruto smiled. “Thanks Hinata.” He said, “I’m glad someone doesn’t find it hilarious.” He said, looking over at his other friends.
Hinata went even redder, she was happy that Naruto thanked her.
“Hey Hinata... want a drink?” Naruto asked, “I’ll treat ya.”
“Err... th-thank you. Umm... I m-mean, y-yes please.” Hinata said, Naruto was now treating her, her heart was beating so fast she thought it was going to explode.
The rest of the lunch passed by quite nicely as they enjoyed food, company and drinks. The whole time Naruto and Hinata chatted to each other, happily talking about things , much to the surprise of everyone as they realized the two of them were getting along so well.
Even Naruto and Hinata were surprised at how easy conversation seemed to flow between them. This was much to the joy of Hinata, who had only dreamed of having that much interaction with Naruto.

As the week moved on, Naruto and Hinata continued to meet up for lunch and talked, sometimes amongst their friends, who began to talk about them making jokes about the two becoming an item. Which Naruto denied, saying they were just becoming closer friends. Hinata was saddened by his response to the playful taunts, but didn’t mind, there was still time for it to develop past that point.
Even though talk of the mysterious hero had died down, Hiashi couldn’t help becoming more and more agitated; It was clear to everyone around him that something was bothering him. He had been considering it over and over and he couldn’t get the thought out of his head. His life had been saved by this person, and his honour was screaming at him to pay back the debt somehow.
When Hinata returned home that evening, Hiashi called her in.
“Yes, father?” Hinata said.
“Hinata.” Hiashi said, taking a deep breath. “I have decided I can no longer face being unable to pay back the debt of my life.”
“Father?! What do you mean?” she asked.
“The young man who saved my life.” Hiashi said, “I am unsure how to repay him. I know I have to somehow. I feel my honour demands it of me.”
“Father... I’m confused.” Hinata said.
“Hinata. Our tradition is to honour our debts.” Hiashi said, “And there is only one way I can sufficiently pay back the debt of my life. I must offer him your hand in marriage.”
“W-WHAT?!” Hinata gasped. “F-Father... y-you can’t be serious?”
“I am Hinata.” Hiashi said, “I understand this has come as a shock, but as my eldest daughter... it... it seems fitting, you are my life also.”
“No... I... I can’t... me and... we’re just getting...” Hinata tried to get the words out, but found it hard to articulate what she wanted to say. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she ran out of the room, upset. Her budding relationship with Naruto had been quashed before it began.

Word spread fast about Hinata’s possible arranged marriage, and by the next day it was the talk of the village.
Sakura was walking with Ino, Shikamaru and Chouji through the village.
“I can’t believe Hinata is being forced into an arranged marriage.” Sakura said, “What is her father thinking?”
“Yeah. I hope this guy is as good as we all think.” Ino said.
“He still has to accept the proposal.” Shikamaru said.
“Hey guys.” Naruto said, as he approached. “What’s up? You all look serious.”
“Haven’t you heard about Hinata?” Ino asked.
“Heard what? Is she ok?” Naruto asked, a little concerned.
“Oh man, where have you been all morning?” Sakura said.
“Err... sleeping.” Naruto chuckled. “I was up training until late last night.”
“Hiashi is arranging Hinata to marry the guy that saved his life.” Sakura said.
“EHH?!” Naruto said, surprised. “M-Marry?”
“Yeah.” Ino said, “It’s not right to force her to marry someone she doesn’t know or love.”
Naruto didn’t wait around, he was off like a shot.
“I guess he doesn’t agree either.” Sakura said.Naruto ran through the streets of Konoha, moving as fast as he could to the Hyuuga compound. When he got there he met Neji.
“Neji... I wanna see Hiashi.” Naruto demanded.
“Why?” Neji asked.
“I just heard about this arranged marriage thing.” Naruto replied, “Is he crazy? Why would he do this?”
“He says it’s the only way his honour can repay the debt.” Neji replied.
“Well... what does Hinata think? He has told her right?” Naruto asked.
“Of course he has.” Neji said, “He explained everything last night.”
“Everything? And what did she say? How did she take it?” Naruto asked.
“She hasn’t left her room since.” Neji said, “Take a guess at how she took it.”
“Well... I’m gonna have a word with Hiashi.” Naruto said, trying to push past Neji.
“I’m sorry, but you can’t.” Neji said. “Why does it matter to you anyway?”
“It... It just does.” Naruto said.
“Listen... I know you and Hinata have been getting close.” Neji said, “But you can’t just barge in here and...”
“Let him through.” Came Hiashi’s voice.
Neji was confused, but did as he was ordered. As Naruto and Hiashi disappeared, Neji went to Hinata’s room and knocked on the door.
“GO AWAY!” she shouted, still upset.
“Hinata... you’re not going to believe this... but Naruto is talking to Hiashi-sama. I think he’s here to argue against the arranged marriage.”
“WHAT?!” Hinata said as she flung open her door.
The Hyuuga heiress ran through her home to where her father and Naruto were talking.
“I just don’t think it’s right to pay a debt with your daughter.” Naruto argued.
“But it is the only way I feel my honour can be regained.” Hiashi said.
“But... But it’s... She doesn’t want to.” Naruto said. “Neji said she’s been in her room since you told her everything.”
"You shouldn't force Hinata to fulfill your debts." Naruto cried out.
Hinata’s heart was beating faster and faster as Naruto defending her rights and without thinking she entered the room too.
"Yes father." Hinata said, "Can't you take my own feelings into this?"
"Hinata?!” Hiashi said, surprised to see her. "You will… adjust. Arranged marriages still happen, and can be very rewarding."
"I don't care." Hinata said, getting teary eyed. "I... I can't fall in love just like that."
"Yeah." Naruto said, "And do you expect me to fall in love with her just like that?"
"No." Hiashi said, "But how else can I repay the debt?"
"Wait... What?" Hinata said, confused.
"I'm not gonna marry Hinata just because you feel you owe me one." Naruto stated.
Suddenly... Hinata passed out. "EHHH?! HINATA?!" Naruto cried out as he caught her. “What’s wrong? Are you ok?” Naruto continued to shake her until she opened her eyes.
"F-f-forget what I said, Father! I-I'll take the arranged marriage!" Hinata said, still in a daze.
"Wait. W-what!?" Naruto said, shocked to hear her say it.
“Oh?” was all Hiashi could say. “Wait… has there been something going on between you two already?”
“Well… we… well… umm… Huh?!” Naruto was now completely lost as Hinata hugged him.
He felt her pressed up against him, and his heart began to beat faster. “This is so weird!” he thought to himself, as he felt himself wrap his arms around Hinata. “Why am I… feeling so happy? And when did Hinata start liking me enough to agree to marry me so quickly.”
“Naruto… is it ok?” Hinata suddenly asked. This was all happening very quickly, and she didn’t even know how he actually felt about her.
“Umm… I… I don’t know.” Naruto said. “Are you sure this isn’t too fast?”
“Yeah… but I think it’s just wonderful.” Hinata said, smiling.
Naruto had never seen Hinata smile much. She was usually hiding her face or looking away and it was the first time Naruto had fully seen how beautiful she looked with a smile.
Hinata gasped as Naruto kissed her without warning, but then she closed her eyes and began to enjoy it.
“Ahem.” Hiashi said, interrupting them.
Naruto and Hinata quickly stopped and, with crimson cheeks, stood before Hiashi.
“So… it’s agreed then?” He asked.
Naruto and Hinata looked at each other.
“Yeah.” Naruto said, “But only if Hinata agrees.”
“I do!” Hinata blurted out. “I… I mean. I would like that very much.”
“Good.” Hiashi said, “You two are now betrothed.”
Hinata couldn’t help smile as the excitement built up in her.
A short time later Naruto and Hinata announced the engagement to their friends, who were at the very least dumbstruck.
“So… you saved Hiashi?” Sakura said.
“You’re the mysterious hero?” Ino said.
“Why… why didn’t you say anything?” Sakura asked.
“Yes. Saving my father was a good thing.” Hinata said. “And why didn’t he just say you saved him?”
“Well… “ Naruto said chuckling nervously. “Remember when I said I was sleep walking?”
“Yeah.” Everyone said.
“Well… Can you Imagine me fighting in my underwear?” Naruto said.
Everyone tried not to. Except Hinata, who’s face went bright red.
