Probably so that he can either make the metroid run away or turn to stone, since natural energy that is used for his Sage Mode tends to turn people into stone frogs if they can't maintain it in their bodies.

Since those who can't "internalize" the Senjutsu Chakura turn to toad-things, and THEN turn to stone, and the Metroid is still in one piece, I guess Metroid (think it's both singular and plural) CAN internalize Senjutsu Chakura.

Yeah, but this is fan art, and it doesn't really show how much the metroid has sucked out, that theory is still debatable.

I love Metroid. It's a great Nintendo franchise. Granted, I've only played two Metroid games so far, but it's enough to say it's a wonderful series. "Super Metroid", in particular, is effin' greatness. Nice work here.
