I just had a sad thought... what if Suzume runs into serious trouble, or gets lost, or something, and doesn't make it in time for the festival... then he'll thing she stood him up, and then... oh dear I'm rambling again...

Don't take this the wrong way, but I feel that Mak is a bit too normal for Suzume(he's kinda like the guy in Inu yasha who always wants to date Kagome in the normal world).
A lover of the protaganist should be as interesting as the main character but in his or her own way.
And since Suzume being sucha pretty person, there should be some serious competition.
