Description So, I was going to call this one done...(I signed it even)...but upon further review....well they don't call it workable fixative for nothing.

I just see some things I want to keep working on with this one....lots around the eyes, darken some stuff, some facial details, etc.

So keep on the lookout for the finished piece...should be sometime soon, not that I'm rushing.

Laters...

Matty

PS...Be sure to stop by my page and see my DOTM for Jan 2009.....(Ya have to stop by to see who it is.....)

Very very nice. So WIP, what does that stand for? I probably sound like an idiot but I really don't know. how do you do them?

Oh..no don't worry, when I first saw it I had no idea either. It's a Work in Progress. Not finished yet, but want to show the updates to everyone. I don't know why we do it, but I guess it helps people to see how others do their thing I guess....

And thank you very much, I really do appreciate that..

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Well why I was wondering about WIPs is because I see a few people who post WIPs and it looks like their using a light box or tracing or something. And I didn't know if there was some sort of common theme there or rule against it. Obviously I don't mean your stuff though. Theres actually a couple of guys who post this amazingly realistic stuff from like movie pictures or something and I've used a light table or light box enough to recognize the type of outline it produces. And then they post the WIPs and it looks like they used a light table. Here's an example [link] His stuff is amazing even if it is a tracing. And I obviously don't mean to discredit this guys talent cause I definitely can't know for sure. And just because I can't do it doesn't mean it isn't possible, actually it may be a good indication that its completely normal. Anyway I really do love your stuff and I would be interested to see what you think of some of mine.

and now my turn to apologize for how long it took to get back. I actually do have a tracer projector also that I use on occasion for larger watercolor and acrylic work. Watercolor especially because of how transparent some of those are..you don't really want the pencil marks all over or eraser marks (they don't get covered well at all.) Though I've never used one, I know several people that use light boxes, especially a lot of tattoo artists (which, I may look into getting into this year.) use them for accuracy.

I don't think there is a rule against it or anything. My uncle told me it was fine to use because I know how to draw it freehand as well, but the tracer stuff just makes it quicker.

For all my stuff, due to an eye condition that made me blind in my right eye, I use a grid technique I learned a long time ago, and added my little twists to it for accuracy. Some say it's cheating, but I say use whatever works for you. If you can't enjoy this stuff, why do it? Right?

Right on thats really help ful man. I've seen the grid but never really got into it though. I do know some other people who use it and it works really well for them. Maybe I'll have to try it. How do you figure your ratios and how come I never see your lines for your grid? Thanks by the way for taking time to write me back. And don't worry about it taking so long. I got time. So do you mind me asking about your eye? What happened? And yeah when its not fun I won't do it anymore either.

Absolutly stunning hun. If it looks this good now I can't even imagin what it will look like when it is finished. Don't worry about rushing it hun. As a great artist once told me "just take your time with it".
