Description
In memory of the DC comic book, Impulse. It got canceled and made me very very sad. Then Skid (who isn't real) tried to explain to me that he was still showing up in Young Justice so I shouldn't be so sad. ...Then not too long after I drew this, Young Justice got canceled. Isn't life funny? No, you're right... It isn't.Pencil & ink. ...and a Sharpie.

DC Editor In Chief Dan Didio says Bart may not be as dead and gone as we think.
I'm really hoping for a time travel fixer-upper that gives us young Bart back and preferably as Impulse.
...and we'll see what happens with Inertia being forced into the role of Kid Flash over in Final Crisis: Rogue's Revenge... VERY interesting developments there.

lolol, I love impulse... It's because of him and Slobo that I started liking Young Justice. Really cool characters!!
Unfortunately... I started liking it like 2 years after it's last issue... *sweat drop* but luckily, there's ebay and amazon!!

I am glad that I found this, I was so sad when the cancelled Impulse and Superboy at basically the same time and then young justice was gone, really I wept...inside.
At least he is still in Teen Titans...although the call his Kid Flash now and he is just not as cool.

I miss "classic Bart" as well, though I suppose I can understand the company wanting the character to grow and mature.
Teen Titans is a GREAT book, yet Superboy and "Kid Flash" don't seem to hold the appeal they had in their "glory days."

I agree with your long comment, Maukingbird--TT and YJ are totally different. Not only in the production levels--Peter David and Todd Nauck have set such a high standard that I doubt anyone could do a better job in their steed--but also on the storyline levels. YJ was funny, but capable of switching to complete seriousness without deluging too far into the past--TT is full of depressing angst and Titans history, all to appease those Titans fans from the 60s and the 80s. Furthermore, Wondergirl, Superboy, and...*shudder* Kid Flash have lost their spark and originality--all three have become standard super hero yawns, ESPECIALLY Bart. The way Geoff Johns is playing Bart up is such an obvious quid pro quo for fans of the original Titans--if he can make Bart identical to how Wally was back in the day, then he'll gain a lot more readers, and restore faith in the old Titans followers. Meanwhile, those of us who enjoyed Bart's sponteniety in YJ and his own book get shafted, as now a wonderfully unique character turns into just another cardboard-cutout side kick. I have a similar problem with how " football-player-grunt" they've made Superboy--after his costume and personality redesign a few years ago, I actually started to like the Kid a bit more, and Wonder Girl's made the same evolution in my heart. I'm just SO thankful Robin's such a vital part to the Bat Books, otherwise we'd be looking at a return of the Dick Grayson/Jason Todd fish-scale underoos and Peter Pan booties.
Furthermore--what happened to Ray? He never appeared in Graduation Day. And Empress, last we saw of her was lying comatose in a bed. What about Secret, Reddy, or Snapper? GD was a three-issue Titans story with YJ tacked on. Judd Winick promised that there'd be "no bitching or in-fighting" and we'd have a clear reason as to why both teams split up. I don't get that last part, as YJ had no reason to disband. None of their teammates died, and any accusations Winick forced YJ to make amongst themselves were grossly innacurate--the thing about Bart never listening to orders springs to mind, amongst other things.
I could go on for HOURS like this. GD and the new TT book just pisses me off sooooo badly. Don't get me started on how bad I hate Starfire, Cyborg, and Changeling, or on Deathstroke and Jericho. I think I have enough hate juice for the creative team alone to fuel all of New York City for a month and then some.

Well, that's all a matter of semantics. Young Justice may have ended to pave the way for Teen Titans, but it was still cancelled. It isn't here. The creators are gone. It's not as though they're continuing the same numbering under a different name. Young Justice ended. Teen Titans, while picking up some of the pieces from Young Justice, is a horse of a different color. The transition wasn't immediate. There was a gap of a few months, as well as a mini series signifying the end of the team and placing the pieces where they needed to be at the start of Teen Titans. I don't consider it to be a simple manner of changing the name. Different writer, different artist, inker, colorist, letterer, editor, tone, focus... To me it's a different book. It just happens to feature three characters who previously appeared in Young Justice. Couldn't it be argued as well that it's simply "Titans" that changed it's name? It has nearly as many Titans in the book as it does YJ members. It fits more with that legacy and tone than it does of YJ. But, y'know... that's semantics. There probably isn't really a right answer.

My luck with TV shows is the same way. If I like it the show probably doesn't stand a chance. . .[Now and Again, Firefly, dueSouth --which actually made it with a lot of fan pleading. . . ]. I'd probably totally wig out if my TV luck stretched to comics.

And yes. Total fan. Loved it.
Can't wait for the DVD set at the end of the year so I might continuously relive the adventure. And it sounds like Joss is pitching it around movie studios as possibly opening it up as a franchise that way. Would certainly get the series in front of more people that way.

Yeah, I weasled someone into preordering me the DVDs. Purely for selfish reasons you understand. If they movie deal goes through I can only hope it's as good as the series.
