So today I heard a guy talking about how feminism hates men and wants to oppress them and make women dominant. I'm tired of that shit, so we're having another political episode. Because feminism is fighting against the ways men are oppressed, because they're the same ways we are. So today I'm going to talk about how the patriarchy oppresses men and about toxic masculinity. Yes, boys, your masculinity is under attack by the feminazis. Please just stick around for a minute though and hear me out, at least a bit. Maybe you'll realise I've got a point and stick around.

You've always thought of yourself as feminist, but not this Third Wave stuff. But, the video does look... nice. Yeah, must be the production values. Worth watching a bit more.

Anyway, let's start on the standard talking points where men are 'oppressed'. The Draft and child custody are big ones. Men were forced to fight since women were seen as weak. Men don't get children because women are seen as natural caregivers. Those aren't feminism's work. Those are the patriarchy enforcing gender roles. And the way they're enforcing them is by devaluing women - even if that particular aspect of culture disadvantages men. Feminism is about fighting against the patriarchy. Against the culmination of aspects of our culture which say that women are weak, emotional, worth less. When we fight against that, we help you guys with those things as well, since it's the same cause!

Yeah. You get it. She's just trying to help you. She's nice. You should keep watching her.

But onto the topic at hand, what about when masculinity is toxic? When we say that, we're talking about when our culture expects men to behave in ways which are, well, toxic, at risk of ridicule. It's what encourages the worst kinds of machismo: catcalling, negging and the like. But I'm here to tell you that this isn't an attack on men. Toxic masculinity harms you as well. Why do you think men have less shelters for domestic abuse victims? Why do you have a higher suicide rate? I'm not saying it's the whole reason, but the fact that our culture actively punishes men for being open about their feelings definitely is a problem. And that's sexism, because you get punished for being 'girly'. Feminism fights this. We're on your side.

Yeah, you're on her side. It's so convincing. And maybe the whole toxic masculinity thing left you vulnerable to being mentally controlled? That's a weird thing to think. But it feels right when you look into her eyes.
