This is the 1st Design for a Developing Live Action "Mech"
Sci-Fi Film (2008 design) that is influenced highly by
Anime Movies, but an original Story/Screenplay that a
friend has been writing since the late 90's.
Unless Toby McGuire gets "Macross/Robotech" off the
ground, this could be the 1st "Real" Live Action Anime with
a Big Budget (i know i know, every geek wants to make
"the right" live action Anime, but we want to give the
genre justice, and not make it cheesy or succumb to any
lame compromises).

Believe it or not, this particular design will probably look a
bit wilder by phases II and III, but we have a few standard
Mech as well, and other Special Forces.
I tend toward the more Organic designs, like Masumune
Shirow, and the Wild and Exotic of Mamoru Nagano with
the Western Sci-Fi Designers (Syd Mead, Ralph McQuarrie,
Jim Burns, Chris Foss, Anthony Masters, Ron Cobb, Doug
Chiang, Joe Johnston etc.).
But we have lots of others to look into for "Basic" Designs
along with the more exotic that will come into Act 3 that
will just blow everyone away in the last Battle sequences.

Well, I hope to put up more Designs soon

I love the shoulder launch mechanism. That's a genius use of the extra space created by Nagano's shoulder-plate style of design. It would look totally BAD-ASS on film!!!

Aww thanx man!
Oh man, wait till you see the next phase of it, its gonna' be pretty wild and ominous, picture a clean but EVIL Nagano inspired Mech

I can see it all on Film in my head

(by the way, thanx for commenting on this piece, I was wondering if anyone really likes it...)

I hear you about seeing it on film in your head; you're not alone in viewing your art that way... ^_^ That makes it all the more important to model and animate!

I look forward to seeing the next stage of this design's development.

And yeah, I'm a big Jim Burns fan. I was lucky enough to see some of his paintings up-close at a Worldcon a few years back. I'm also in love with the artwork of Chris Foss, Peter Elson, Angus McKie... all the Terran Trade Authority guys. And Rodney Matthews is a GOD. His and Roger Dean's works (I noticed his influence on your work as well) are some of my all-time favorites.

!!!
Dont get me started on Chris Foss!!! and...
Ron Cobb .
Mr. Dean I met at the San Diego Comic Con about 5 Years ago, what a nice Englishman, no one was around him (very sad) as I had all the time to gush about him
I drew him "my" version of his Yes Logo overnight in my Hotel Room and he asked "Did you draw this by hand? To tell you the truth, I havent drawn it for decades" (He just manipulates and paints it new colour schemes in Photoshop ).
Elson, McKie, Masters, Mead and Joe Johnston, Doug Chiang and McQuarrie are Gods!

And what totally kills me is the lack of love shown to these people. Roger Dean NOT surrounded by fans? Really? Well on the bright side, you had plenty of time to talk with him at length *mixed joy and envy*! I'm glad that Foss and a number of others got a show recently in London for the Alejandro Jodorowsky "Dune" project. It's about time... :anger:

But I'm just happy to know that I'm not the only one who's "keeping the flame" as it were - learning and using these mens' techniques, and honoring them for the unique and amazing artists they truly are.

As far as Roger Dean and the Yes logo, you know Kai Krause pretty much developed Kai's Power Tools for that very reason, right? He's a total Roger Dean and Yes geek!

Oh, and - geek moment - I met Ron Cobb (along with Dan O'Bannon) in 1979 at a con in DC. There he laid out all the stuff he designed for "Alien" and, as it's turned out, all of it's sequels. I learned all about Weyland-Yutani corporation right after I saw Alien for the first time! Cobb planned all that stuff out during pre-production of Alien. Dude's a fucking genius!

Me and 3 other friends would be (I am) TOTALLY envious of you to meet Dan and Ron and to 1st see a presentation for A L I E N.
Wow.

I am looking forward in hearing about Ridley's ideas for the "Prequels" (Hoping at-least one of them has NO Human Actors).
Think on THAT one

OoooOOOOhhhhhh... Grist for the mental mills!!!

I hadn't heard that Scott was considering an ALIEN prequel! Considering most of the brain-trust is still alive, that could be one hell of a movie. I'll keep my geek-ears open...

I have done that plenty my friend
I enjoy very much looking at Portfolios and give credit where its due
I seem to be the Rare Artist that is not scared to give compliments and not in "fear" -"Is that guy gonna' take my Job!? ".
Lots of talented people here and who I have met on the road.
