Description
I've noticed how similar Scrat from Ice Age is to the Thief in The Thief and the Cobbler - they don't talk (hear that, Weinsteins?), they are great characters and they are both like Wile E. Coyote - trying many attempts at getting their prized possessions. According to someone who worked at PDI, Richard Williams heard from Chris Wedge that Scrat was inspired by the Thief. In this crossover, the two aren't happy with the results of swapping their obsessions...Scrat belongs to 20th Century Fox/Blue Sky Studios
The Thief belongs to Richard Williams
BTW, if you don't know The Thief and the Cobbler, you don't know what you're missing! [link]

Why am I not surprised by that news? By the way, next time you see the Thief, take a good long look at the flies that surround him constantly. They were actually drawn with his face and robe.

Scrat: My Tail! (I know he doesn't talk, but I could help it.)

They both really are similar! Both of them struggle to get what they want, they always get themselves into some whacky situations. The only difference is that Scrat never gets his acorn and the Thief got away with the golden "The End" sign and stole the filmstrip as well.

I love both of those movies, (Did I mention I finally got to see all three versions, not counting your "Keith The Thief" edit?) & I like how you did a crossover with them! I might consider The Thief crossing over into another work somehow.
Also, about your comment about them not talking, at the part of "Hear that, Weinsteins?", let me correct things a little bit: the Weinsteins didn't make The Thief talk, they just made him think out loud, which was somewhat okay in my opinion, even if he did a great job silent. But even then, it was pretty moronic how they even included vocal effects like grunting, moaning, & that stuff. All that extra noise was unnecessary.

I know that he only THOUGHT-talked in the Miramax version, Captain Obvious.

I liked Ice Age until the sequel came out...
I love the Thief & the Cobbler though, such a classic. *_*

I love both of these movies!
(Man, do I wish Richard Williams could have completed his classic. Damn Weinsteins...)
