But, if you were the original artist, would you take it as a compliment if someone copied your art and tried to take complete credit for it....and then tried to make money from it? The copying isnt what everyone has the problem with. Its the fact that he refuses to give proper credit and is trying to cash in on someone elses work. As a professional artist, thats about as far away as a compliment for me as it gets.

Agree, if i draw someone elses work, i always get consent and link, give mention, an example is woxys, drawn a few of her images and linked, i have drawn some Marvel and mentioned original artist when been able to find their names.
