Wow, excellent job on her suit! I always like seeing it modeled after the Prime 2 version (my personal favorite). I like how you drew her face, too. And you even added the spikes on the ankles! That is the only thing the Prime series suit lacked. Looks great!

Yes I tried to model it after the metroid prime 2/3 version, but also tried to go for a supermetroid version mix, because I think mp2/3 varia suit leg armor is too thin and "sleek" I guess.

I was always puzzled about how she was able to turn into a ball. Β Is she a cyborg with only a human head?

No, I don't quite understand that either. I just like to imagine it as this - her armor de-materializes, converting itself into light, which deforms and is either stored away inside the ball (with samus driving the morph ball like a vehicle) and other stored light forms to the morphball shell and materializes to morphball armor, or the suit light itself forms into the morphball and materializes.
