More animation concept, for my animation "From the ashes", a fairly emotional animation and specifically a moment where Celeste (initial name) realizes just how old her pet bird is getting, and soon after goes through a huge nostalgia trip remembering her younger self and this bird she's known all her life, and she realizes that she's changed a lot, and not for the better.Related content

I just mean the way the background and most of the piece is a completely neutral gray while the values are added by either brightening or darkening that gray.

Yea that's true. I always tended to like that way of shading. I also remember hearing somewhere that having a gray backdrop helps the artist not to lean toward lighter or darker lighting than the piece should be.

Cool! I've heard how the lighting you're in effects the colors you use. I think I'll use that sometime in the future.
