You nailed it, body and soul. The light hitting the breast feathers sets this photo on fire. The contrast of green against the gray rocks and the shimmering background are an amazing counter point to the gnarled feet and raptor like beak. I love the sharpness of the bird's profile and what is amazing is that the colors of the bird are the same one's in the background. Now only was this great photography it was also very lucky that all the compositional color elements were also present.
This is one of my all time favorite photographs on DA. Five Stars and a bouncy emoticon.

Yeah they are really are!Β and I hope we don't either! They have been a lot to protect our threatened species and native forests/landscapes in the past but our current government doesn't see the point in conservation and preserving for the future generationsΒ so they have been cutting a lot of funding...Β Β

That's an immeasurable shame regarding the funding and actually our current Government doesn't seem to appreciate the natural environment either.Β

I wouldn't mind at all, you can use all of my images as references for new work, however just not for digital manipulations.
And make sure to leave a link to the original work that you referenced in the description so I can check it out!

Hahah yes I heard that! Although they don't go out specifically to hunt sheep though. And they are, it's pretty incredible, they can work in groups and use tools to get things done

I did not know that! What a incredible bird and it does not fly!

MaxK-W In reply to LadyLoveZeppelin [2014-09-13 00:53:08 +0000 UTC]
Oh these ones can fly, I don't think like long distances or anything though. And they nest on the ground. I think there is another one which looks fairly similar which can't? Not too sure on that though
