Description
All the info you'd want on my Lithhounds/lithhounds however you'd like to spell their name. Cause I can't decide.2016 update - numbers will no longer match this reference!
Main body
1) roman nose
2) very good eyesight, day hunters but have decent night vision as well
3) canine level sense of smell
4) feline level sense of hearing
5) lower lip is visible, like a dog’s
6) large muscle over the mandible – their mouth can open very wide, like a thylacine
7) lean body, flexible but strong
8) deep rib cage, endurance and speed
9) longer torso than a greyhound or cheetah
10) fur is typically short and uniform, some have slightly longer fur on their ears, ankles and underside of the base of their tails
11) tail is as long, to balance the body when running and climbing
Ears
1) same movement and expression as a greyhound
Head
1) binocular/stereoscopic vision
2) short whiskers
3) 270 degree field of vision, 140 binocular
Paws
1) blunt claws
2) rough paw pads, like greyhounds and cheetahs

2) decent leapers, climbers
3) very fast, upwards of 50 plus
4) can have bursts of speed, but tend to lean toward endurance hunts
Color information
a) eyes – they can be any color, accept they cannot be colorless
b) coat: main 50 - 90 %, secondary 10-40%, accessory 10-40%
1) a: main - any shade of black or brown, not white
b: secondary color(s) - any shade of black or brown or white, optional
c: accessory color - any other color(s) conceivable
2) never more than 4 colors, 2 or 3 is common, 4 is rare
markings - stripes are the most common, points are allowed, never spots or shapes.
3) Streamlined, nature inspired markings are preferred
- the markings can be the main colors or the
accent color.
- the accent color can work with the main color
markings or can contrast them.
~ They use their anatomy & coloration to signal from afar - Even though they are intelligent, they live pretty much like animals. Their markings can show family ties and genetic lines at a distance, which can include tribes. They can posture with their wide opening (like a thylacine) jaw things such as defense, aggression, etc.
~ They are born in muted colors that darken with age until an adult. They also begin to gray once they are past the breeding age. Already light lithhounds show this aging mainly through their accessory color. They are also born with 'baby fluff' and a thicker coat. This decreases and is gone by their late youngling years.
Terms
~ kip(s): baby/toddler, birth to around 7 years old
~ youngling: child/teen, five to 25 years old
~ elder: past mating years, around 120 years old until death
~ tribe: group/family
Life Span
~ gestation: around 10 months
~ breeding age: around 20 years (25 or older preferred) to about 120 years
~ usual life span: around 140-150
Society
~ lead pair: can be any age as long as they are past the youngling stage. They are elected by the tribe through mutual agreement or vote. Can be a male and female, female and female, or male and male. They can be anything from a mated pair, to siblings, parent & child, to just two individuals that work well together.
~ elders: respected, trusted (title is earned)
~ hunting: all hunt for themselves for they generally eat small game. All members of the clan help provide for the kips and younglings, as well as help train the older younglings
~ kips stay with their mothers while nursing (usually until they are about 1 year old) then they are free to circulate among the tribe, learning from everyone
~ possessions: are not needed or coveted. They do not make permanent homes or wear clothing. Trade sometimes occurs for items, but usually is for services instead. However a few, very few have items that are passed down through the generations: most often from lead pair to lead pair. Aka a leather collar with a special stone. These items are usually brought into the tribe by means of gifts from others or mean something historical to the clan.
~ jewelry, tattoos, piercing are extremely rare. The piercing and jewelry get caught on things and the tattoos don’t show up very well through their colored fur. Types of painting does occur in some clans.
~ other cultures: they are peaceful creatures, not condoning murder, war or poverty. They don’t step in to help other beings unless they ask and only if the task agrees with their own societies rules – like showing a new group what is good to eat in the area or trading some furs of the animals they are eating anyway. They don’t like trading for items since they have no need of them anyway. They do respect other cultures and their differences, thoughts and ideals.
~ music: they love music, vocal in particular. When meeting new cultures that is usually the only aspect of the new group that they are interested in learning about. All other forms of art are interesting, but music is the only one they actively participate in. The tribe often has large group sings, telling the history of the clan, little stories, or humorous circumstances through the words, noises and rhythms.
~ history: they have no written form of communication, only verbal passed down by means of stories and music.
~ religion: there is no overall region. They honor and respect nature which guides their lives. What happens after death, the making of life, illnesses, killing for only food or protection everything is guided by nature’s rules. There is no such thing as luck, what is, is what is.Nothing is fated. Each tribe is different. Some practice forms of ancestor worship. Others worship elements of nature. And some none of the above.
~ breeding/mates: Breeding is allowed with any in the tribe or out of the tribe as long as they are not blood relatives and it is consensual on both parts. Many pick a lifelong mate/partner and stay loyal to them alone. Cheating is rarely an issue because there are no ceremonial bonds between, only the ones they make to each other. There is no discrimination when same sexes are attracted. The only things they worry about in terms of of society are theft and unjustified killing.
Climate/Environment
~ they prefer temperate areas, nothing that regularly goes below 20 degrees and above 110 degrees. They tend to stay away from tropical areas, both because of the thick undergrowth and humidity.
~ They do not swim that well, so deep water and swamp is avoided.
~ they dislike snow, and avoid regions that get large amounts during the year
Intelligence
~ they are sentient and just as intelligent as humans, with a more highly developed scent memory
~ mentally they develop a lot like humans, slowly by trial and error. When older they take social, emotional, physical and other factors into account when making decisions. They usually think before they speak or act, especially since their language encompasses postures as well as sounds.
Communication
~ body language and eye contact are part of the their verbal communication. Postures and looks add emphasis and meaning to their verbal words.
Genetics
~ main color: offspring will have either a shade between the parents main colors or one parent’s exact main color. VERY rarely can they be lighter or darker then the parents.
~ secondary color(s): same as main
~ accessory color: not always directly passed, can be any color found in their genetic history
~ markings: are often similar to their parents, can resemble on over the other but are most typically a blending of both. Certain patterns seem to be dominant in families or even clans and be traced back through generations
Names
~ all depends on their tribe
some from other cultures, if they have an interesting
sound (back to the music thing) ex: Cael, Taloolah, etc
some are just words spelled out more phonetically ex:
moore, ski, etc
some are descriptive ex: leaf-chaser, rain-on-water, etc
~ parents give their kips names at birth, but when they become adults they are given the opportunity to change their name to anything they would prefer
OTHER!!
They are never, ever, ever to be drawn in an anthro form!

This is the wonderfulls breed that I ever seen.
But I have little questions
The head resembles a Bullterier it true or is head of the greyhound rather good?
I like it a lot so that they are so thin, or they are thicker?
If the ears are so small, or they can be longer if so how long roughly?
my english is not the best but I hope you can understand it^^
thank you for listening

thank you! they are more streamline like a greyhound, but the muzzle is rounded a bit more like a bullterrier. the ears are always that small. They can be built a little thicker depending on what area they are from. See the added bits at the very bottom about lithhound from different regions.

Questions:
1. can I add glasses? or no?
2. can the main fur be like a light brown or just brown?
3. going to put blotches can they be blue-sh gray? (I think if colors of dogs they just say blue)
and 4. I want mine old can I add bags, slump him and extra fur (like at the ends of legs and mussel?)

Maxrunn In reply to shayla12pu8 [2009-10-11 01:54:56 +0000 UTC]
1) yes, but read the sections on social stuff. you'd have to explain why and how they have the glasses... again read the sections and you will know why. the explanation can be in the info instead of in the art itself.
2) yes to both
3) yes
4) yes mam!! and don't forget to enter your lithhound in my lith contest!! I'd love to see what you think an old one would look like

Ithildae [2009-09-13 22:18:17 +0000 UTC]
lol how would they get peircings and stuff anyway? That reminds me of an RP I was in where I joined an orangutan to do that kinda thing for chars XD making jewellary and stuff. They were going to have adornments and shit anyway, I figured I might as well invent a way for them to have them that kinda made sense XD
Oh, oh, I did have a question though apart from the blather - how come they lost their whiskers?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Maxrunn In reply to Ithildae [2009-09-14 02:22:16 +0000 UTC]
could be through other cultures their particular clan has come across, perhaps the lithhounds traded furs for the piercing and such. but again, it's not a cultural thing for them... to have off things or items, so it would be very very rare to have piercing or jewelry.
No need for them. just like primates don't have them. their other senses took over. but they have the numbs left over where the whiskers would be. originally the lithhound had no claws either. then they had retractable. now they have dog claws. evolution of the lith. haha
