When the Founders conquered the center of their universe and began to reshape it according to their vision, they had forged and raised myriads of species – and here, you can witness the creation of their firstborn, which would later be named "Mono Nicrerus" and become the progenitor of the fabled nicrian race. A culture of meticulously designed synthetic stem cells has been sprayed into a vat of nutritious solution – and slowly morphed itself into a genetically encoded shape under close supervision of robotic apparatus.

Back there, in the beginning of times, the creation of a brand new lifeform was an astonishing achievement – but over the following eons, the art of life-forging had become so widespread and common that it turned into triviality. With right tools, every sapient being can now assemble another living, breathing thing in a literal basement – and in fact, most of the sapient species currently inhabiting the universe were brought into existence in a similar way. Even the concept of biological reproduction – a thing so seemingly fundamental – was gradually abandoned in a favor of a huge network of the so called "Incubator Shrines", which mash the genes together and routinely breed new generations in a process not too dissimilar from the one illustrated above.

That was once seen as a task of gods had been granted to man.

And what man did with it?

Well, there were both good and bad things alike…
