Hi! I'm finally have some time for this))))))) And finally I sent U4 Nathan to my test room ^_^Well, I want to say that the pack of textures is great, but I don't have any clue about function of some of them
Anyway, here is what I've got after two days of tests. I still can not to do a realistic eyes material, but I improved the one I used earlier and now I can upload renders without any photoshop edits on eyes))) Besides I also improved my skin materials and, maybe I'll make some renders with previous characters)))
I saw that XNA version of this model is avaliable)) Good to know that I'll not have to suffer with blender next time)))

Да, материалы моделей к современным играм очень радуют) Из них можно получить весьма добротные рендеры))

If the textures are made for PBR 3ds will not handle them too well, if I remember correctly 2015 still uses the outdated Phong shading. However the model looks very fine, Naughty Dog has amazing artists...

I tried to use 2016, but it's broke all my material library (( I didn't want to remade all I have))))))))

Have you reported the bug? Normally Autodesk patches them...it only takes a while.

Maybe thats why the original maps with Standart material are gives so...different result)))))))
This render was made with SSS2 material and edited bitmaps))

Max can be a tad tricky if you want to use it for rendering, for me it never worked out, not sure about VRay, but maybe you can setup your materials there and get your desired look much more easy? If you alter the bitmaps try not to touch the roughness map only invert them to make some sort of spec map out of it, it's oldschool but still better than nothing.

That is what I'm doing for my materials. Most of edits are color correction, inverting and more stuff like this. I satisfied by the result in most times, only eyes are cause some problems) But you're right - using 2015 version I'm a little behind the progress))))))
I'm not sure it was a bug with 2016 version, processing of some things is just changed a bit. I'd said that it was bug in 2015, that was fixed in 2016. Besides, Vray version for 2016 has many bugs too. So, I did not manage to find out the real reason of this trouble
2018 version was released almost a year ago, when I still using 2015, maybe I'll should try new version))

Eyes are very complex, depending on the mesh, you have a lot of layers with different iors, you can work around that here and there but for a realistic outcome I would recommend at least one additional layer setup with a fresnel based material and an ior close to thin glass.
Complain to Autodesk about that, you have already given them your money so it is your right to get working software. I was pretty pissed about the vertex snap bug too so I pestered them, now it is fixed.

Thanks for advice! In this scene, I tried to add a glass layer over the eye mesh in first time) I'll try to improve this in my next works)) Just need to understand the structure of this construction) I know there should be a reflection layer somewhere)
You know, our conversation spurred me and I installed 3ds max 2018 few hours ago. And it works perfect with my last scenes)) Some things are even better then before)) But it looks like my laptop is too old for it

I think it goes in the right direction, the light dot in the eye is still a little soft.
Great to hear that 3ds 2018 works for you.
Yeah 3d software can be painful for a computer. I work with high res meshes and sometimes I overdo it and everything crashes, it is annoying.
