BASICALLY, a discussion on Skype concluded with the fact that von Karma realized that just killing Gregory was not enough, no, his whole BLOODLINE should be made to suffer, it was only proper. But that would require a lot of vigilance, unless he could somehow.. end that bloodline swiftly. But how to do that without raising further suspicion? His rival dies, then the son of the deceased also perishes, while under his care, CERTAINLY he would be the prime suspect, and DL-6 may even be reopened, should they find any connections (like, uh, say that Miles was Greg's son, perchance?) No, there was another way, something considerably more...

THIS IS WHY MILES CAN NOT HOLD OUT A NORMAL RELATIONSHIP WITH ANYONE. EVER.

We have adopted this as our new cannon, after all, it does rather explain quite a deal about Miles and Manfred, why Miles strives to be just like him, and why he is socially awkward.
