He also believes he is a god and that his sons also inherited this god-like power from him. But is that really the case or is he.. is his whole family line... something else?

Well the legend of the Monkey King isn't really FROM Saiyuki. In fact my Saiyuki knowledge is very limited.
But Wu Kung IS based on that popular Japanese legend of the Monkey King. As was Saiyuki and DBZ and alot of stuff.

but the original is journey to the west, that story originated form china!, japan just only re-edited the story
