Description This variant of the Agamemnon-class BC(P) is a one-off that was built to replace Queen Elizabeth III's Royal Yacht.  A basic Agamemnon was gutted of half her missile pod loadout, and the freed-up space is used for conference rooms, guest and government employee accomodations, an elarged main boat bay, as well as the addition of a smaller boat bay, with space for the small craft of visiting diplomats, and other VIPs.  Other than the reduced pod loadout, the Duke of Cromarty has all the abilities, offensive and defensive, of a Keyhole-equipped Agamemnon.

Tell me something new.  People have been commenting on that for years.  It's completely unintentional, as the author of the book series didn't really visualize what his ships looked like when he was writing the stories.  Unfortunately, as described in the books, this is the shape we ended up with.  It works for the physics of the drive system he created, and to change it now means changing 30+ books.

Many friends of mine have joked about Good Vibrations class superdreadnoughts.

I like that.  Maybe I'll make up a mesh of the super-double-secret, burn-before-reading, I-could-tell-you-but-then-I'd-have-to-shoot-you class of Good Vibrations Honorverse ships.

'Course, I'd have to flag those as adult content...  Ever seen Flesh Gordon?

Actually, seeing some real honorverse ships is a pleasure. The "make it look cool" of Tales of Honor is annoying me. Thank you for your awsome work !

Thank *you* for enjoying the work.

While I'm not exactly thrilled about the direction Evergreen/Top Cow are going with their ship designs, I understand their thinking behind it, and the need to draw in non-fans.  I mentioned elsewhere that David once said in an interview that if every Honorverse fan bought ten tickets to the movie, that Evergreen would have lost money making it.  Unfortunately, that means they need to cater to what non-fans are used to in movies, which are gee-whiz, greeble-covered ships that look very different from one navy to the next.

Unfortunately, fan snark about the shape of the ships doesn't help, either. Though the Astra as pictured in the comic kind of bugs me because it only has one impeller ring amidships instead of two balanced at either end.

Yeah.  I think we're going to see some updated designs with the new series.  Nimitz is supposed to be looking a bit different than before, and I think Evergreen have changed some things with the ships.  Don't quote me on that, and most certainly don't hold your breath.
