I made this pie today because it is my brother's birthday tomorrow and he isn't really a cake kind of guy.
I must admit that I conquered yet another fear of mine, baking a pie from scratch! It wasn't really as hard as I imagined it would be. I even felt confident enough to experiment and make changes to the original filling recipe.
This is a very French Canadian type of pie it is made with maple syrup and fresh local raspberries. I hope it will be good!

I agree that your photos have been getting better and better, my only complain is with the cropping but the photo is great

Thanks for the critique, I REALLY agree with the weird cropping, as usual I have problems with design and photography, I like to think that I am getting a bit better every time.
Also, in my defense I added the raspberries on a whim, I not so ceremonially threw what I had left on there, lol. Next time I will be more careful!

This looks sooooo yummy and I have never done a scratch pie crust unless you count crushing up oreo cookies or graham crackers. But I may just have to try it. It looks amazing. Was your brother impressed? He should be.

He loved it! Sugar pie is his favorite, but I thought I would cut some of the sugar with the sourness of raspberries and it worked really well together. Otherwise, I feel that it's just too intense.
