Description
my grandpa got me a cheap grade laptop (with no dedicated graphics card on it) and it doesn't have photoshop in itso i figured, why not try Paint Tool SAI... most hipsters today use them, maybe i should try it out, just testing the waters a bit
the only thing i like about SAI is the pen strokes can be adjusted on the spot, no need to undo and remake a new line like i usually do photoshop and how precise the magic wand tool can be, making coloring easier
but what i hate about the SAI is how limited the brushes are compared to Photoshop's downloadable pre-made brushes, this makes it hard for me to shade it

For not liking Sai, you still did great with this drawing!
I actually use Sai for my art. I tried using Krita and GIMP before, but I didn't really like them, especially GIMP. Both of them don't have a version of some of the tools I really like to use (such as a fill bucket, actually I'm not sure if either of them have something similar). And for GIMP, some of the controls are just very weird and confusing for me to use. But that could just be me since I tried both of them on my Mac laptop versus using Sai on a big PC screen. The thing I like about Sai is that it's easy for me to understand at least, and also since it's a more common digital art program that is used, it's easier to find tutorials about it versus GIMP or Krita. Those two programs have a more similar layout to Photoshop, such as more brush settings. But then it's all about user preference. Photoshop's dizzying amount of brushes makes my head spin.
For me I don't really care about the brushes available, although you can download brush packs for Sai made by other users.
The things I don't like about Sai is there is no text option or Gaussian blur tool, although I saw some alternate methods. And the problem is that Sai is only supported on Windows. D:

i never knew SAI have brush packs at the time of creating this piece so it's a rookie mistake for my part, i'm more convenient with photoshop's brushes especially you can remove the extra ones that you don't need
also i agree with SAI not having blur/smudge tool like Photoshop has, i usually use them a lot in shading and highlighting glossy things like my wheels in my reference

Sai does have a blur tool (well mine does).
If not, you create a blur tool by taking the water color brush, and I set several of the settings to zero so that it only smoothes and blends colors together (donβt remover which ones though).

i know it have a blur tool but it's more of erasing the color instead of spreading it like i wanted to

If you don't set it all the way to zero, then it will leave some of the color, you will have to play with the settings though as can't really explain well what each one does.
