Description
I was playing with DAZ Studio and Octane Render this morning trying to create a set and light setup for portrait renders. When I was adjusting the camera I noticed that Octane camera has native support for stereoscopic rendering. If you turn it on, it will render the image which you can then view using the (usually) paper glasses with green (or cyan) and magenta transparent filters in front of your eyes (Anaglyph projection). Cooooool... Well... Not really...Then I looked at my 3D TV... So... wait a second... I'm rendering images in a 3D software... So... What If I try to render an image that would be really 3D...
So I gave it a try and here I'm proudly presenting my very first trully 3D render
To see it in 3D however you will probably need a 3D TV or any other device that can create 3D image from a SBS (side by side) jpeg (and if my Samsung TV can do it then probably others can too). Of course you will also need 3D glasses that come with your TV or monitor...
For Samsung TV the process of displaying the image is rather simple. Just download the full res image and save it to a USB stick. Insert it into your TV and switch to images mode. Select the image you saved on the stick and when you have it on-screen just press the "3D" button on your remote. You should get a popup asking which 3D mode is the image in and there you should select the "Side by Side" (middle option on my TV). And then just put on your 3D glasses and turn them on.
Say no to anaglyph! Ask for real 3D!
And who knows... Maybe even SUZEtech will adapt this new technology for documenting their achievements...
The important thing is that while creating this image I created a framework within DAZ Studio which enables me to actually render any image in this manner... And they said that 3D is dead...
EDIT:
In case you prefer the MPO image format for 3D then here is the MPO version of this render as well:

Have fun.

This is great . we need more stuff in 3d. And I got a 42 inch Vizio that i use as my monitor and it works great. I think that 3d would be more popular if the code for it was made free like its supposed to be not something you have to buy with lots of companies competing for who owns it. Look at what IBM did by releasing the plans for IBM Compatible now know to most as PC vs the greedy Apple folks that dont share and only take a low percent of the market.

Thank you
Rendering 3D stuff is actually quite simple but a bit time consuming as each image needs to be rendered twice.

Technically if you look at a 3d image with crossed-eyes it turns 3d... pain in the ass tho.

This 'technique' never really worked for me much...

When the alternative is a $1000 monitor... beggars and choosers

Hmm... Got my 3D Monitor/TV for half that price... It is only 27" but works nicely...
Sure the alternatives are anaglyph but that usually kills colors and the depth is not that great.

Not saying it is... but for those of us struggling to replace a $300 windshield... tis better than naught
