Awwwwww! I'm so glad you like him! He was really fun to design. I love pretty much all of the big-toothed prehistoric cats, so it was nice to have a specific animal in mind. Even though we don't know what they really looked like, I would like to think they resembled the spotted, clouded leopard looking guys you see them represented as pretty frequently. Thanks so much for commissioning me!

I knew clouded leopards had some ridiculously big canines and were in their own little group separate from other leopards, but I didn't know anything about them being a close relative of the sabertooth. Since no one knows for sure what saber-toothed cats looked like, I don't like to discount any design for them. I personally think of them as being like a lion that still has some cub spots and I've heard of cave paintings thought to be of Homotherium being depicted with spots. I really like the look of the clouded appearance and they very well might have really had that. It would be so cool if we somehow found out what they looked like one day.
