Jonlir grew up in the neutral hold of Whiterun, where he longed to be a member of the Companions. He had spent his entire life in a household with Hunter background, making him a deadly shot with the bow. However, he always had lacked the conviction to follow through with his dream to join the brotherhood, and then the Civil War started. Jonlir heard stories of the Thalmor cutting a bloody path through the Imperial City in Cyrodiil and forcing the Emperor to sign the White-Gold Concordat at the tip of a sword. That day, he decided to rally under Ulfric Stormcloak's banner as the keen-eyed hawk, in the company of wolves. A few months later he found himself on the battlefield where he quickly earned a reputation as one of the finest shots in the Stormcloak Army. It wasn't long before he was placed in the squad of a certain Dunmer Captain: Gaelan. The two were fast friends, fueled by their hatred for the Thalmor. Jonlir is a shy member of the squad and doesn't talk much, but it doesn't really matter. Gaelan just needs him to listen. During the course of the war, Jonlir loses his left eye in one of the many battles fought for Skyrim's freedom to a rival Thalmor Archer. He doesn't curse them however... In fact he thanks them. It just saves him from having to close his eye to take aim.
