which makes its funny how they both have Eric Bazua vocing these character (the Splits and Stimpy), it's a shame that he kind of almost gets the end of shitty end of succeeding voice actors (even if I think the Banana Splits Movie is just a bizarly intresting film that I find myself watching over and over, I don't think its anything great, but I think its much more of just putting the Banana Splits themselves and how they were portrayed here aside, its a watchable horror film, and yes how they turned a kid-showing into a horror film with everything about the source completely disrespected and undermined-except maybe the theme song and voices-is just incomprehensible)

WB Writer: I tried! I really really did!

Sid Kroft: Oh, what now?

WB Writer: I was making a Banana Splits Movie, so that the children and the fans can watch it and love the Banana Splits more! But the execs forced me to rewrite! THEY FORCED ME TO REWRITE AND TURN IT INTO AN R-RATED HORROR MOVIE! AND NOW THE FANS ARE PISSED OFF AND THEY ALL RAGE QUIT! (wailed) I've soiled the good names of Warner Bros., Hanna Barbera, and the Banana Splits and their fans!!! SOILED IT! SOILED IT! SOILED IT! SOILED IT! SOILED IT! SOILED IT!

(That's a reference from the Spongebob episode "The Algae is Always Greener".)

The Banana Splits DESERVED a horror movie adaptation.

You think that horror movie could permanently ends the entire Banana Splits franchise forever with no chances of any future revivals no-whatsoever? I kind of hope not.Β

These are such bad ideas.
Nickelodeon will not allow that and neither does Hanna-Barbera.Β

Not Nickeledeon, but one of Nickelodeon's sister channels, Spike (now called Paramount Network) was involved in the adult Ren & Stimpy cartoon revival in 2003. Also, Hanna-Barbera is now a name-only unit for WarnerMedia than an actual company anymore. Since the early 2000's, when Adult Swim was still a new thing, they made the Hanna-Barbera characters more adult-oriented in Harvey Birdman and Robot Chicken.Β

Do you ever watched Adult Swim? The R-rated horror movie on The Banana Splits on Syfy probably wasn't the first time they made the Banana Splits more adult-oriented. 2 years earlier, there was a Suicide Squad/Banana Splits crossover comic book from DC Comics.Β

Once.
But I didn't really liked "The Banana Splits Movie"
And the DC Comics are fine.

Ren and Stimpy was never meant for kids, it only ended up a kids channel because nobody took cartoons seriously back than

InfernoBlastFire In reply to HCShannon [2019-11-02 19:59:24 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't be surprised. Spike (formerly TNN and now currently called Paramount Network since 2018) in the early 2000's made Ren & Stimpy a lot more adult-oriented than John K. originally intends them to be before they got picked up by Nickelodeon.Β

No, he wanted to make it adult-oriented!

He probably never wanted to make any kid's cartoons in the first place.

I can imagine tan alternate version of this image but w/ Bugs Bunny and Flint Lockwood together.

Bugs: They made a preschool show out of us and turned us into munchins. What did they do to you?
Flint: A horror TV series/5 Nights at Freddy's rip-off set in a broken down school.
