i hate to correct you but your wrong, piccolo was seen eating fish in an episode of dragonball and he also complained about having to eat fish all the time when he stayed with goku and his family for 3 years to train for the androids.

Yeah, but that's a mistake that appears even in the comic,. is a plot hole, since later Dende say that namekkians don't need food, but need just water to survive.

precisly, he said they don't need food not that they can't have it. and before piccolo discovered he was an alien (not that it wasn't fucking obvious, i mean the green skin was a dead giveaway) he used to hunt for fish to curb what he thought was hunger but he didn't know any better at the time. you need to remember piccolo and dende grew up on different planets and dende was raised like a namekian whereas piccolo had noone to teach him he only needed water to live, instead piccolo learned most of his habits by watching humans and of course the knowledge he inherited from his father at birth...which by the way, his father also ate solid food for sustinance.

piccolo can taste food just fine, he just has different prefrences as to what food he likes or will tolerate, which is no different than the way a human eats. when piccolo was growing up, he lived mostly on fish, fruits, nuts and berries or fresh vegitation and possibly any wild game living in the mountian region where he hid. so his preference in food is likely going to be geared towards meals containing these types of ingredients, which is what chi-chi uses in her cooking and why he will eat what she makes. i doubt he would like anything processed cuz it wouldn't appeal to him, it would be like getting a vegitarian to eat a regular burger...it doesn't matter that i like burgers, if you try to introduce meat to someone who's been a vegitarian their whole life, their taste buds and stomach just may not agree with it and their body will reject it. now dende has abstained from solid food his whole life and sticks soley to drinking water, so his stomach would be more sensitive to the idea of putting solid foods on it than piccolo, but he seems to be able to handle different forms of liquid like juice, tea, coffee...ect. however he seemed to dislike the taste of coffee seeing as it's too bitter. does that help?
