I got here from a random link to mix-and-match animal hybrids... and I'm surprised at the quality. That's a really nice artwork, and a cool idea. Sure, I may be a little biased towards cute critters, but I still find it pretty refreshing to use this old trope in such a new way.

I WOULD follow the same theory...but...that would make a hippogriff (part raptor and part horse, which is also a mammal) a gryphon, and the two are documented as separate creatures xD But otherwise I do like mixing and matching, and yes, this is adorable.

I would have to agree, the theory is sound. And utterly adorable! I'm only sad I didn't come across this sooner (I'm something of a gryphon fan), but so glad it was shown to me. I can't get over its little paws! ^_^

I love this tiny gryphon-- the delicate colors, the feeling of movement, the tiny curl in the paws.... If I have any criticism it's that the humming bird wings are so clear, there is no sense of the constant movement. But that stillness does add to the art noveau/stained glass feel of the piece.
