Description
This is RatohnhakΓ©:ton (a.k.a Connor), the new main character for assassin's creed 3. Born to an English father and Native American mother, Connor was raised among the Mohawk and suffered severely during his childhood, mostly because of their encounters with the white colonists.This reached its maximum when his village was destroyed, and eventually led him to seek justice and fight tyranny, resulting in Connor coming across the Assassins. At the same time, the American Revolution unfolded, and Connor found himself allying with the leaders of the American revolutionaries, mainly George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Charles Lee. The game will be set during the american revolution and is set for release on 30th Octocber 2012.

So for anyone who wants to pronounce Connor's birthname here:
So I am Iroqouis (Tuscarora) though not Mohawk. Iroqouis is actually the name of a language group and can be divided into Northern and Southern Iroqouis. The Haudenosaunee (what the Six Nations, Iroquois Confederacy call ourselves) consists of members of the Northern Iroqouis language family. I do not know the Mohawk language but from the Mohawks I do know, in their language they pronanounce their R's as L's for some reason. In linguistics, the colon is used to elongate a vowel sound and since most Native American languages were not written languages, certain sounds that do not appear in the Roman alphabet needed to be expressed. Thus we incorporate symbols from linguistics to show these sounds. That's why the colon's there and the accent mark above the 'e'. And 'K' in Iroquois languages I'm familiar with is often pronounced as a 'G' and same with 'T' which is often pronounced 'D' although there are exceptions like certain vowel and placement rules but I'm not here to teach you that. The prounounciation given here is pretty accurate I think(again I'm Tuscarora not Mohawk) with a minor change.
So:
RatohnhakΓ©:ton I think is pronounced "La-doon-ha-GAY-doo"
The thing with 'doon' or 'tohn' is that it does NOT rhyme with 'doom' or 'spoon.' It is kind of a nasal sound. You don't connect your tongue to the roof of your mouth when pronouncing the 'n.' Instead you kind of make the sound in your throat and nose. It's kinda weird and I don't know how to explain it well. The same thing happens with 'doo' or 'ton' at the end but to a lesser extent. I hope this helped.

They're also super excited about this game. There's not many games where natives (even half natives) are portrayed as the Good Guys.

Ha both might be true, the way I was taught was a combination of r and l so it'd be rla, there is like a slight "rrr" before la, I'm from six nations and I'm Mohawk, and my teacher and fluent Mohawk speaking friend pronounces it "rla"
