After watching it YEARS later I grow to really appreciate this movie, and Toad and how he was essentially just a freedom fighting street musician in a fucked up world.
This movie was actually a pretty cool adaptation, I almost wish this version of Mario was also made into a game...
and the way you drew it almost reminds me of the Shock series (System/BioShock) with the grafitti. Awesome look about it.

It seems like it's really taken all this time since the movie premiered for people to really "get" what they were trying to do with the concept. It most certainly wasn't the most accurate adaptation, but it was definitely faithful to the heart of the games.
Toad really was a freedom-fighting street musician. His world was fucked-up for as long as he could remember and he dealt with it long before Mario and Luigi ever entered the picture. "Trusting the Fungus" was just about all he could do at that point.

I liked that movie.
I take it the little lizards are Dino-Hattan's equivelent of rats?
I would have loved to do a sequel where it winds up that Koopa was lying about there being nothing outside of Dino-Hattan. We meet Peach, Daisy's older sister who had been sent to Sarassa-Jersey by the king the same time Daisy was sent to Earth when Koop took over. Peach had taken on a more Mad Max style (As achild she IS shown in her traditional princess dress) as she had been involved with fighting an alien warlord named Tatanga in Sarassa-Jersey.
Meanwhile In Dino-Hattan, the power vacuum left behind by Koopa has caused a turf war between Casino Kingpin King Wart and Bowser's chief scientist Professor Kamek

Not a bad idea, but you do realize that the idea of there being more outside the city where the "real" princess (always named Peach, despite the fact that the name didn't exist at the time of filming) is located is pretty common, right?
While I do like the idea that Daisy has a sister, it just seems pushing it that she'd be named "Peach."
Also, early scripts and cut footage featured characters named Wart and Bloober, who were the scientists that developed the devo technology for Koopa.

I see no problem naming her Peach. Peach and Daisy were always shown to be two seperate entities. Peach is an itegral part of the mythos and it makes perfect sense to work her in somewhere. Or if you like they can be cousins.
And Ive never heard mention of people thinking there was more outside the city. Ever. Most Ive ever heard in fan circles regarding the movie was how they got everything wrong.

For all intents and purposes, Daisy in the movie was meant to be the Toadstool from the games. Having personally spoken to the film's writer, I can vouch for them simply not knowing the two characters were distinct.
Well, this is the fourth or fifth time I've run into this kind of sequel pitch. It's not to say that it's wrong or cliche, because there's certainly something to the idea of more being out in the desert, but it's incredibly basic.

I'm sorry since that certainly wasn't my intention. I welcome all sequel ideas since they are in themselves fascinating concepts.
I would love to see you explore your own in some capacity or at least share this outline on the movie's fan forums.

Yeah, sorry about that. Automatic registration has been turned off, but you can have an account created for you. Really sorry for the hassle (and initial perceived hostility).

Just wondering whether or not if it's a duplication of a scene from the film, or just an omage...that's really all I'm curious about now.

Just like a scene from that world. Day to day life in Dino-Hattan.

OIC.
Thanks for the explanation mate. BTW, I also remember the Super Mario Brothers movie being referenced in your 24 hour video short (Well not exactly referenced, rather more seeing it's DVD case) . I take it it's a favorite?
