i tried this position. if i do it, the fingers always stick out except if i intentionally hide my fingers by making the hand flat and pressing it against my body with my arm, which is a very unnatural position.
or by making a fist.

I tried it too while I was painting to get the feel for the pose. It doesn't feel weird and is actually quite comfortable for me, but everyone is different. The hand can be curled or wrapped around the body. I don't have to make a fist for my hand to be hidden behind my arm.
