Description
Another test with the Reality Plugin. This time I tried to reduce the quality settings to speed up the rendering.Well... still taking over 8 hours for the rendering:/
But at least now it does not suck up all my RAM...

...oh, you're right, they are simple 2D pictures
I found some free tree here [link]
Look if there's something you like, and then I will try to convert it for you.

8hour? i never see 8h for just one picture. it's very strange as if your pc is not very good.

LuxRender uses a massive calculation of Indirect Lighting, more heavy than the one used in a Radiosity algorithm, and a "real" simulation of materials, with no "tricks" or simplifications used in 3D programs. CPU rendering is not good for this, unless you have a "render farm". That's why I'm looking forward for the GPU accelerated version:/

Maybe I'm just too slow, but eight hours is impressive. This could be considered great work no matter how long it took though.

Faster results will be achieved when the GPU Accelerated version will be available

8 hours for rendering? Wow... you can do lots of things while waiting for your model to be rendered.

Modern graphic cards are not good just to play games: they can be used for very fast calculations too. A specific programming language, called "OpenCL", was made for this (And Nvidia graphic cards have a faster version too, called "CUDA"). The creators of the powerful but slow render engine LuxRender have created for testing a small OpenCL version of it, called "SmallLuxGPU"(SLG), and it is DAMN FAST! For example, the benchmarks showed that where LuxRender does 320 calculations every second, SLG can do over 9660 calculations!!! So, we are waiting for the programmers to include the code of SLG in LuxRender...

wait... wait... Your explanation is too much for a total noob like me. I don't understand a thing about programming or computations. I'm gonna need assistance from my lil' bro about this...
Although I get the point that the new programming for GPU is expected to be faster, rite?
