Description I guess this is a progress checker of how far I've come in a year. Other than the colours (i just realised the eyes aren't shaded -.-), rendering and that left hand, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I might start doing this yearly as a benchmark of how far I've come in a year

forgetting to colour and shade stuff is a sign of rushed work. (how long did this take?)
since you want to improve quickly, I have a few questions on how you draw.

(I also do not know what the white on her chest is supposed to be. Is that light or..?)

do you sketch? I see that the proportions are a bit off and the linework looks a bit sloppy at some points. (signs for not sketching)
do you know what clipping masks are? and what program do you use?
are you more into a cell shading style (easy for beginners) or since you used an airbrush on more into the softer shading?

As for tips, start upping your shading game. there is no shade on the cloak and the one in her right sleeve doesn't make sense + i'ts very pale (lack of values, beginners, (im one of them) don't know how important values are). other than that there is no visible direction from where the lightsource is comming. Next one would be start gesture drawing and sketching. It's super efficent, atleast for me. but before that you should have some basic knowledge on how a body is build up. You don't have to name all the muscles, just some "how far away things from each other are" (forgot the english word) and how they click togheter with eachother.

if this hurt you in anyway, im sorry and apologise. It wasn't meant to do that I just wanted to help you with giving crituiqe.

If you want I can draw you a few examples and we continue over notes.

It was fairly rushed (have a habit of doing that) since it was late and I was tired. I did sketch, it's just I'm not used to drawing on tablet, most of my drawings have been in my sketchbook, so it was somewhat alien to me, which is why some parts look like I hesitated.
I'm not too familiar with cell shading, I have a rough idea (from a quick google search ) of what it is, so I'll look into that - I know the shading I did do is inconsistent, which as I said, I need to work on.
Do you have any tips on gesture drawing? I've been wanting to carry on for a while, but I stopped because I wanted to focus on getting proportions and anatomy down (which I'm still in the process of doing)

Oh no don't worry about it, I'd much prefer to get honest critiques that actually help me as an artist than general "nice job!" comments, it shows that you actually care about my improvement!
That'll be great! thanks!

ah so you still have hand to eye coordination problems? No worries it will go away with enough practise. (but never replace the feel of a pen on paper)
Cellshading is my way of calling the shading where you just use a darker colour and draw shadow like a hard material. no airbrush, no soft edges. It works good, looks good and is very easy to do.

tips on gesture drawings:
Well I would suggest that you firstly start off with a line like a C I or S those will help you to get the basic gesture done (let your imagine flow, an C could be a hunched overman an C the other way a confident adventurer with his chest out.)
You should also draw them really tiny if you can't get a good idea for a pose. OH and NEVER get stuck on details, gesture isn't ment for that, it will hurt you most of the time. You can add detail after the gesture is done.

It doesn't have to be good, the more you draw the better they will become and the more dynamic will flow into it.

I personally start off with a line and add 2 other lines for the shoulder and hip to get the distances.

after that I add more shapes spheres or rectangles for the chest, half a circle/sphere for the hip and lines for the arms and legs (you can add circles for shoulders and elbows/knees)

after that you just flesh it out a bit more. The legs in this one are way to long but Im to lazy to fix it right now. it should look more like this:

as soon as the gesture( now more of a full sketch) is done I lower the oppacity of the layer and draw with a smoother pen over it.(I fix errors and make it cleaner while doing that so everything is set up for the linework.)

sorry for my sloppy explanations it's getting reeeeeaaaaallly late.

Yeah, I do want to get an lcd screen graphics tablet soon since the one I have keeps uninstalling itself >_>
oooh I see, I'll have to try that next time
this actually really helps, I found that on top of my figures being disproportionate, the gesture just seemed stiff. I'll have a go at the S I C gesture practice, thanks for your help! I'll probably post some sketches on here.
And sorry for the late reply, had my first day at work, so been busy :3

Lcd's are way to expensive for me. At some point sure but right now I cannot afford them. (but remember better tools dont make better artists.)

I'll be looking forward to your sketches then. If you have trouble with something or just want me to overlook them just ask, im there for you (not instantly but im here)
Congrats, then you can make all of the moneys. Don't worry bout late responses, same 'ere.
