Bane Toads are a pervasive pest, they are large, noxious toads that seem to breed up rapidly.

Every dozen or so years there is a biblical-level plague of these things that sweeps north from the equatorial swamps and jungles.

They are often used in occult rituals and as ingredients in deadly concoctions.

And that is where it would end if they were in Meridia, but if they were in a more fantastic setting they might be the children of the dark god of plagues and famine, The Great Toad.

I could imagine them being in a dungeon crawling video game, you find them all over the place for no reason and they don't really do anything, they are more annoying than anything but they do make a satisfying squish sound when you bring the hammer down on them
