Description Another picture in my series of "STUFF that doesn't quite fit."
I tried experimenting with black and white with a single color item. That helped a bit because the tops of the mechanical pencils were different color and now they're uniform.

I plan to do one more photo along this line.

Now this one is my favourite so far. There's a lovely flow with the pencils, and red is always a good shock colour. Plus the metallic table, I assume that's what it is, works extremely well with the black and gray pencils.
Super cool man.

I figured. It doesn't look anything like I intended it to when I started laying the pencils out. Once I had them on the surface I tried a bunch of things and this was my favorite.
I wish I could have shown how the picture progressed.
1) They started out in a straight line with the red pencil laying on top.
2) Then I put the red pencil in line with the other pencils. Then I moved the pencils adjacent to the red one [link]
3) Finally I made them all follow the red pencil

I also tried a fat marker in place of the skinny red pencil.
It could have been a stop motion movie because there were many more subtle variations in there as well.

It would have been interesting to see all the variations, but in any matter, you went through quite a process for the shot, but it was worth it.
