Description
I have used the character of Klingon Commander Kang in the following books:Book 1- Gains and Losses
Book 4- Another Step Toward War
Book 7- A Tale of Two Captains: Part 3
Nova Trek Novella 1: Treasures
Book 8- Special Report
He will appear in Book 9: Last Voyage of the Sundown and in 2 of the 4 books after that. Mr. Ansara may be gone now, but he's left us a character that will live on forever.

This is a wonderful tribute to the man and the character. One of the best of the Klingon commander characters. Bravo!

Thank you. Be sure to check out my Nova Trek graphic novels. The character of Kang appears off and on through out the series.

He also made an appearance in Voyager. It was their anniversary show "Flashback". The story with Captain Sulu.

Second thing I ever saw him in was The Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea with Walter Pidgeon. (The movie not the series.) The first was of course Star Trek.

I saw the "Voyage..." movie, too. He played an interesting character, that's for sure.

Well done, Madison. A beautiful, and completely appropriate tribute to a terrific actor. He certainly will be missed, but, as you say, he's left a legacy that will live on.

"We need no urging to hate humans, but only a fool fights in a burning house."
For all his other roles, Kang
and Kane in the TV series "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century"
will always stand out; sci-fi is the true test of an actor's ability and I have great respect for those who make the attempt, let alone convince me to suspend disbelief.
Mr. Ansara will be missed.

Yes, he will. He made a career of playing strong, almost classic heroes- And Kang had a lot of the Classic Hero in him. He managed to raise Kang above the typical, looking-for-a-fight-for-the -sake-of-a-fight Klingon. Kang had levels to him that Kor and Koloth didn't have. Even without the Organians stepping in, I think if Kang had had reason to work with Starfleet- a valid reason- he'd do so. Where as Kor and Koloth both would have doubled over backwards working some kind of double-cross.

Kang was the first Klingon I liked---how angry would I have been, in his place?
No, he doesn't like humans, but he had that sense of honor Roddenberry wanted us to see all along.

Agreed. It's a shame they only used him once.

Well, twice, if you count the "Grumpy old Klingons" episode of DS9.

I remember him mostly as Cochise from the TV series Broken Arrow.

I don't think I ever saw that series- although I have seen stills from it. I remember Star Trek of course and watching him on Buck Rodgers and I dream of Jeannie.
