Description
It being April and April being Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month, of course I'd do something for it.
Enter AuTalkz: Infinity.
Changed up my style a bit to be more "chibi" in design, changed up the coloring, and have the colors be more "muted" because I honestly never liked how bold the colors were in my comics. I certainly think the colored ones look better than the traditional black and white for my comics, but still never fully liked how it looked. The chibi design will allow me to address some problems which adults on the spectrum face, as let's face it...I didn't know I had autism until around college and so I had no support or anything.
...I also can't center the text in the box. Huion doesn't have a text option (and if they do, I haven't found it) and SAI2 isn't crazy-good with that either. Maybe I'll try a different font.
Anyways, I was struggling for a while to try and come up with what I'm going to be doing for this month, and eventually settled on a comic strip. I like drawing comics, and honestly have been debating on whether or not to revive AuTalkz.
If I do, then it'll definitely go back to the "basics" of how it was before I brought in half a dozen characters: Focused completely on autism rather than the characters...though some characters (Fletcher, Blake, ect) might make appearances from time to time.
Of course, there's still Monkey to consider. I also enjoy making those as well. They're two very different comic ideas with a different cast of characters...and while part of me doesn't mind doing both (as Monkey is more comedic while AuTalkz is more educational), that's still twice the storyboards I have to make; in addition, I've been trying to put together a video game for some time and finally have cemented the concept and mechanics.
Doing two comics in addition to that might be rough.
So right now, I honestly don't know if I'm going to go with one or the other...or try all of them and just upload on a non-set schedule (as I've been doing with Monkey. The downside to being an introvert is that I don't get to see and experience stuff which I might use as a basis for a comic. So, Monkey is rather sporadic with its updates. AuTalkz, at least, can be more of a set comic due to its educational nature; with that, I just have to figure out how to get either a fact or my subjective opinion (as someone on the spectrum and based on my experiences) into a four-panel comic without overwhelming people with text since it became very obvious to me that people weren't really reading the "description" where I put most of the info on whatever topic I was scraping the surface of.
I guess I'll see how this is received and make a decision from there. I hear a lot of artists are moving over to Fur Affinity as well, which might influence my decision on what to do.
